Chapter 4: Trost

Five years after the breach in Shiganshina, Eren Yeager, Armin Arlert, Mikasa Ackerman, and (y/n) (l/n) had now trained as Humanity's Soldiers. Eren and Mikasa made it to the Top Ten of the 104th. (y/n) had supposed to be number 10, but lost to Krista Lenz, but was still considered as one of the strongest regardless of being ranked with the Top Ten.

Days passed by as the four of them spent their time in Trost, the new southern outlier after Shiganshina was breached. The townspeople, including all the Cadets of the 104th, were all gathered as they watched the Survey Corps head out to attempt to retake Wall Maria and the District of Shiganshina.

As they passed, (y/n) was amazed, these people managed to survive. He's going to be here I know it! And I'm going to scare him by showing him how much I've grown over the years! She thought.

"Hey look!" One of the townsfolk exclaimed as they pointed to a short raven haired man, with piercing eyes that matched his stern and cold countenance. Almost in an instant her head began throbbing. The images that were once blurry in her childhood became clear with the image of him.

"(y/n)," Eren said, placing a hand on her shoulder, "are you alright? You looked like you had a headache again."

"It's nothing," she brushed it off, "have you seen Ansel anywhere?"

"Um..." he stuttered as he rubbed the back of his neck while looking around until he saw...

"Mr. Hannes!"

She turned around to see the same blond man that saved them from that Titan invasion five years ago.

"Hey kids," he said scratching the back of his head, "it's been a long time, huh?"

"Yeah, pretty much," (y/n) smiled

Hannes's smile later turned into a frown, "Listen, Eren, I'm sorry about what happened to your mother."

"Hey," Eren said in a comforting tone, "stop blaming yourself, I told you it was okay."

"I know, but it's a burden I carry with me every day. And now your father's gone missing too. Have you heard from him lately?"

Eren kept his head down as a slight pain in his head began to bother him.

"Eren," (y/n) said, "are you alright?" She knew that he too suffered some headaches here and there but this started after Shiganshina was breached. For her however, it had been with her since she was a child. She didn't understand why she even had it, even Dr. Yeager didn't know when they came to check up on her.

"Yeah," he said, "I'm fine," Then he ran off.

"Eren!" Armin yelled.

"Let's give him some time alone," (y/n) said placing a hand on his shoulder, "say, Mr. Hannes, have you seen Ansel."

"Ansel?" He asked confused scratching his head.

"Ansel Hagenfort? My brother. I should have seen him around here somewhere." She looked around.

"Wait, do you mean-"

"Hey!" Armin said, "Maybe he saw you and got scared on how much you've grown. You said it yourself, you would scare him by how much you've grown. Perhaps he got scared and ran off with the rest of the Scouts."

"Heh," she scoffed, "maybe you're right."

"Damn it!" she exclaimed, pulling back to a rooftop, "What the hell happened to the Vanguard?"

"They must have all been wiped out." Connie said as he pulled back to a nearby roof. Fck those titans, why now of all times.

"Tch." She scoffed, "I'm going to find Armin." She ran off.

"(y/n) wait!"

That scream earlier, she thought, I'd recognize it anywhere. Finally, she spotted a blond haired boy with a bowl cut, paralyzed on a rooftop.

"Armin!" She yelled landing onto the roof, "Thank goodness you're alright. Where's your squad?"

He didn't respond and remained staring into nothing.

"Hey!" Connie yelled, Ymir and Krista behind him, "you shouldn't run off like that you know!"

"Whatever," she crossed her arms.

"How's Armin?"

"I only got here. He hasn't said anything."

"Hey Armin!" Connie yelled walking towards the knelt down figure and shook him back and forth. "Armin! Armin! Hey Armin!"

Finally, Armin gained consciousness and came back to reality.

"Thak goodness," (y/n) said pushing Connie away and pulling Armin into a hug, "I thought you were dead." She pulled away

"Huh?" He said.

"What happened?" Connie asked, "And why are you so slimy?" He flexed his fingers, (y/n) didn't seem to mind the slime all over Armin.

"Where's your squad?" She asked, "Where's Eren?"

It took time for Armin to still gain consciousness. Then he began screaming "YOU'RE WORTHLESS! YOU GOOD FOR NOTHING!"

"Armin! Calm down!" (y/n) said, "Where's your squad?"

Armin grew quiet.

"Let him be (y/n)," Ymir said, "don't you get it? They're dead. He was the only survivor."

"That's not true!"

"Armin didn't say that!" Connie said backing her up.

"Open your eyes and look the fck around you! We don't have time to babysit him."

"Why isn't he hurt then?"

"Who knows? Maybe the titans thought he was dead. It was just bad luck that his squad came across plenty of titans at the same time, and to think him being the only survivor is pathetic enough."

"That's it you btch," (y/n) said as she got up and pulled out her blades, "you crossed the line. Let me sew that damn mouth of yours shut forever!"

"Stop it all of you!" Krista intervened blocking Ymir, "Our comrades and everyone around us is dying and we're all on edge right now-!"

"That's my Krista!" Ymir exclaimed putting her arm over Krista's shoulders, "Marry me once this crap is over!" She burst out laughing.

"Tch. Btch." (y/n) muttered under her breath, placing her blades back.

"Anyhow we can't stay here long." Connie said crouching down in front of Armin, "Armin, can you stand?" He asked as he held out his hand.

Armin looked at it with tears running down his pale cheeks. He stood up, "I'm fine," he started walking away, "I'll go ahead and join the rear guard."

"Hey...Armin!" Connie yelled as Armin jumped off the roof.

"Armin! Wait!" (y/n) exclaimed following after him.

Could he...really be dead? She thought as she followed Armin. There's no way, Eren's a strong-willed kid. He's alive, I'm certain

A/N: I apologize for not updating a lot, I've been really down lately and I don't know why. Maybe its because Summer is almost over or maybe because I've been thinking about personal things. But anyways, here's chapter 4. So yeah. PEACE!!!
