Chapter 8: Dungeon

Her eyes slowly fluttered open as they adjusted to their surroundings. The feeling of a warm, soft sheet was wrapped around the front of her body, not reaching her bare feet. She felt the rough and cold wall against her back. She sat up slowly, causing the blanket to fall off her body, as she felt a stabbing pain on her side near her ribs. She placed her hand on her ribs only to feel the same cloth underneath her clothes. She placed her hand on her head to find it was also wrapped with cloth.

"You're awake," she heard a familiar voice say, "I was already getting ready to leave. Watching you sleep this whole time bores me."

Her vision grew into a focus as a short man with black hair and stormy eyes was leaning his back against the wall, his legs crossed as she stood. His arms were crossed on his chest.

"What the? What the hell happened?" Suddenly, it hit her. This man, "WHERE THE HELL IS EREN?!" She tried to stand up but then her ribs began to ache from the pain. Sht!

"Take it easy," Levi said, as he uncrossed his arms, "I gave you too much of a beating yesterday."

"Heh," she smirked, "I'm not accepting an apology."

"I never said I was saying sorry."

"Tch. Whatever." She stood up and leaned against the wall to support herself.

"Now, tell me," said the captain, pulling something out of his pocket, "where did you get this?" He held up in his hand, a silver chain that tangled in his fingers. Hanging from the chain was a silver ring. Ansel's ring.

She checked the inside of her shirt and realized it wasn't there. "You perv-!"

"Answer the damn question," he cut her off, "where did you get this?"

"Tch. It's my brother's"

"Brother?"

"Please, do I need to explain? His name's Ansel Hagenfort."

He became silent for a moment, still holding the necklace.

"He's in your squad-"

"Where did he get this?"

"Huh?"

"Where did he get this?" He moved closer as he spoke. His tone changing from calm to anger.

"To be honest, I have no clue. He gave it to me before he left for the Survey Corps 5 years ago." Silence surrounded them both, "Speaking of Ansel, where is he?"

"Hm?" Levi responded.

"You're his captain aren't you? Captain Levi, Special Operations Squad. He's told me a lot about you."

Levi stayed in thought for a few minutes. That bastard, he thought, he stole her ring after she died didn't he? What was he hoping to achieve by giving it to this girl? She's nothing but a look alike, a fake.

"Hey!" She clapped her hands, "Can I have my ring now?"

"Take it." He threw the necklace at the girl and she caught it. "You'll get released in a bit, but you showcased a good amount of strength back there. What regiment were you considering to join?"

"Is that even a question? I'm joining the Survey Corps."

"Fine by me. You'll join us earlier than the rest of the Cadets."

"Huh? What do you mean?"

"I think you know very well what I mean moron."

She tilted her head to the side.

"You're even dumber than I thought," he said walking closer to the bars that separated them, "you're joining the Survey Corps."

A/N: Well, it's another hiatus for this author. Hopefully I'll have some inspiration by the next time I update. I hope you all had a great Christmas and a happy New Year and any other holidays you celebrate. I really wish that I can pass my exams so that I could focus more on this book, other side stories, and art (bc school is boring af lol). So yeah
