DR. ALEX STORM
"That was quite the show you put on," I stated, re-entering the room containing Red.
I made my way slowly over to her still body that remained laying on the bed. I stopped myself abruptly when I noticed her eyes closed shut. I let out a breath before turning around, getting ready to leave the room to let the girl finally sleep.
Just as my hand touched the handle, I heard shuffling and a squeak sound. I immediately turned myself back around to see Red facing me with her eyes opened now. I smiled welcomingly before returning my body next to the bed.
"Are you alright?" I asked caringly as I stared down at her.
Her eyes were averted up at my own and she didn't respond, leaving me not surprised. She looked super uncomfortable laying there with her wrists still cuffed behind her back as well as her ankles. I walked to the door, testing the lock to make sure it was in fact locked.
Then I walked back over and retrieved a key from my scrubs pocket. The entire time her pupils were tracing each movement I made and each step I took. It's like she thought I was going to kill her or something.
I gently twisted the key inside the locks before removing the restraints from Red's limbs. She instantly rubbed them with her snow white hands as she stared down at them.
"While I'm here," she looked up at me as I began to speak, "I am going to give you your meds."
I noticed her eyes widen slightly and I knew right off the bat she didn't like that idea. But it is required that all patients receive daily pills. Whether they like it or not.
I searched through my pocket to find a sheet of several pill caplets. I removed two from the sheet before stuffing it back in my pocket. I slowly approached Red, knowing she was going to throw a fit when she sees me trying to place pills in her mouth. The girl wouldn't even eat a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, so I'm certain she isn't going to consume undesirable pills.
"We can do this the easy way, or the hard way. Your choice."
I showed her both my hands, the two caplets in my right. She was now sitting up with her stick-like arms wrapped around her knees which were pulled up to her chest. Her collar bones protruded very noticeably and I knew she was going to have to consume food one way or another before she starves herself to death.
"Now, open your mouth and I'll place these on your tongue. All you have to do is swallow them and it's all over, piece of cake," I spoke encouragingly.
I reached my arm out to hold the medicine near her lips. She automatically flinched away. Just as I expected. I let out a quiet sigh and tried again. This time she actually used her arm to shove my own away from her.
"Don't you dare lay your hands on a doctor," I scolded, showing her that I wasn't playing around anymore.
She had to take the medicine but just had to be difficult for some reason. The entire time she's been here she has been difficult. And I'm quickly winding down on ideas.
