Chapter 1,Depression

Page 1

"Tyler," Josh yelled out from the kitchen, "Tyler you need to get out of bed!" Tyler had been practically living in his bed for almost a month after his late father's death. Josh, Tyler's best friend, and bandmate had been taking care of him. Knowing that if he wasn't there Tyler might harm himself, or even worse. That was something Josh avoided thinking about. He tried to stay positive most of the time, for Tyler's sake.

"Tyler," Josh said while walking into his room. "Tyler, it's ok, I am here for you, so is Jenna," Josh assured him and continued to sit down at the end of Tyler's bed. Tyler responded with a quiet "You don't understand" Josh noticed Tyler starting to tear up and patted him on the back.

"Hey, I know what might cheer you up," Josh said in a half cheerful, half caring voice. Tyler stayed mostly silent, besides the sound of his crying. "How about we get something for Jenna, like a surprise! How does that sound?" Josh asked, in the same half and half voice.

"Like what?" Tyler sadly asked Josh.

"What about chocolate, then after you could take her out to dinner."

"Fine, but you have to go with me. You come up with an excuse if I break down and need to leave." Tyler hesitantly agreed.

"Fine with me." Josh replied, "Now let's get you changed.

30 MINUTES LATER, DOLLAR STORE

"What chocolate do you want to get her?" Josh asked Tyler, who was distracted by a young boy and his father. "I miss him, I miss him so much, I didn't even get a chance to sat goodbye." Tyler cried out suddenly.

"Tyler," Josh said, "It's ok, you will feel better when you go out with Jenna." Josh was feeling so much for Tyler but didn't know how to show him. "Can," Tyler started, "Can you just get some expensive ones, and meet me in the car. I don't think I can be in here much longer." Josh was about to protest it, but Tyler had already started off to the car.

When Josh opened the car door, he noticed right away that Tyler had been sobbing. He looked down at Tyler's hand and saw blood. He jumped into the car, throwing the box of chocolates onto the ground and took the razor blade away from Tyler. "I'm, sorry, I'm sorry." Tyler had been repeating over and over again. His quiet whispering escalated to a yell. He started trembling, his breathing got faster, and he was sweating intensely.

"Tyler, Tyler" Josh said calmly while hugging Tyler. "I'm here for you, I'm here for you, let it all out." Tyler started to calm down and had stopped yelling.

 "Josh?" Tyler mumbled,

"Yeah," Josh replied calmly, while still hugging Tyler.

"I got blood on your shirt."

Josh couldn't help chuckling a bit. "Tyler, that is fine, but we need to clean up your arm." Josh politely ordered.

After cleaning up Tyler's wounds, and changing into a new shirt, Josh headed off to Jenna's place. While standing at the door, Josh had asked something big from Tyler. "Tyler," Josh said, "Promise me you will never do something like that ever again, that really scared me." Josh held out his pinky and was met with Tyler's pinky.
