Jasmine POV
"See you at rehearsal?" I said to Anthony when we arrived at the theater.
"Of course" he smiled, as he opened the door for me.
I walked down the corridor and when I reached the door for my room, I literally jumped inside and almost screamed.
Anthony was so sweet!!, I thought.
In less than two seconds of being inside, I heard a knock at the door. It was Pippa and Renee.
"SO HOW'D IT GO?!?!" Pippa half-screamed.
"How was it?" Renee said, calmfully after Pippa's little scream.
"It was so awesome!!" I said, "He even flirted with me. A bit"
"AwWwwWwWwWwWww" Pippa said with puppy eyes.
"What did you talk about? asked Renee.
Just when I was about to answer, there was another knock on the door. (Am I that special today?)
It was Lin, and he told us to meet him in 20 minutes at the stage to simply go over the songs once. Pippa squealed with delight once he left.
"I'm so excited! How about you, Jazzy? Are you excited?" she said.
"Well... that's what I was going to talk about. I mean, I'm excited for the costumes and all... but what about the performances? I'm so nervous! I heard you and Renee singing yesterday... and you guys sound so good! But I'm not sure about me-"
"Aww, Jazzy" said Renee. "I'm sure you sound lovely."
"Thanks Renee. You too, Pippa"
And then we had a little group hug and headed to the stage together.
When we got there, we saw Anthony and a few other people there, as well. One guy, named, Okieriete, (or, simply, Oak) came up to me and said, "I've heard you've been flirting with Anthony..."
"I am not!" I declared loudly, clearly blushing.
I heard Pippa and Renee giggle somewhere behind me, along with Anthony, who was hidden behind the curtain. (Yet I could see him)
Suddenly Lin came over and gave us each, a kind of thick, packet with songs. I flipped through them and saw that I mostly had singing parts in "The Schuyler Sisters" and "Say No To This". Should I feel excited or nervous?
A few moments later, everyone from the cast was on stage and we began going through the songs. During "The Story of Tonight", I got immensely distracted with Anthony's voice. It was so... perfect.
I almost forgot I was singing next.
My minds started battling:
1: Were going to get to sing next! Yay!
2: IM FLIPPING OUT. WERE SINGING NEXT AND WHAT IF MY VOICE CRACKS OR SOMETHING?!?!?!!?
1: Why do I even waste my time on you dude
2: I DONT KNOW!!! BUT AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH
The first few notes of "The Schuyler Sisters" started playing, and I started sweating nervously. I noticed Anthony watching me.
Remember what I told you, he mouthed at me.
I slightly nodded, still nervous.
Calm down. Breathe, he mouthed, again.
I took a deep breath and realized we were approaching my line.
My first line came out a bit shaky.
"And Peggy!"
A few lines afterwards, I said, "Peggy!" in a much better voice. Out of the corner of my eye, I noticed Anthony's smile.
My next few lines approached.
"Daddy said to be home by sundown"
"Daddy said not to go downtown"
"It's bad enough Daddy wants to go to war"
When the song ended, I smiled at Anthony. And so did he.
I heard other people go over their songs. Pippa sounded absolutely good in "Helpless" and so did Renee in "Satisfied"! For their first try!!
In between songs, Lin would often comment on specific lines, breathing, etc. etc.
Many moments later, it was time for "Say No To This".
I looked up at Anthony. He mouthed, "Believe in yourself"
"There's nothing like summer in the city..." started Leslie. (Who plays Burr)
I took a very deep breath. I could do this.
"That's when Miss Maria Reynolds walked into my life, she said..." sang Lin.
I began.
"I know you are a man of honor,
I'm so sorry to bother you at home,
But I don't know where to go,
And I came here all alone...."
After a few more of my lines, there was one line that looked quite difficult.
I breathed again; it was a long note.
"If you pay... you can stayyyyy" I sang, hitting the correct notes.
It went dead silent.
"Amazing. A prodigy!" exclaimed Daveed. (Who plays Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson)
I blushed as everyone stood up and applauded for me, including Anthony.
After we finished all the songs, it was about 3:00, and Lin told us we could rest for the rest of the day.
Immediately, I went up to Anthony and hugged him.
I'm pretty sure I took him off guard, because he seemed pretty surprised. He hugged me back.
"AWwwWwwWwWw" said... you know what? I think you know who said that.
"Thank you, Anthony" I whispered into his ear.
I pulled away from him, and then he said, "I told you that you could do it. You sounded beautiful"
I smiled, kissed him on the cheek, and ran away, with Pippa and Renee on my heels.
