Running, I am running. I don't know where I am going or who I am running from, but I am. I don't intend to look back. After about an hour, I am so worn out that I fall to my knees. Panting and sweaty, I fall to the ground. As I lay on my back, watching the night stars; everything becomes blurry, and suddenly it all goes black.
I woke up, it was freezing. Was it all a dream? Was I just sleeping? I was laying on a table in a dark room, my head is aching so bad, I reach up to touch it, but my hand just yanks back. Why am I chained to a table?
"Where am I?" I mutter. Nothing is coming to me, I can't remember anything. Just then a girl comes running in through the door. She is tall, thin, and has beautiful long red hair tied back in two high ponytails. As she nears me, I can make out numbers on her arm, like a tattoo, or a barcode. Her arm reads, "142," It's really big on the side. Looking at her close up recalls memories. Kenzie, I remember her, I remember going to school with her and growing up with her, but nothing else wants to come to me. She runs up to me going in for a hug, and then she hesitates and backs up, almost as if she is confused. She stops and looks towards the door.
"Is she safe?" She asked, glancing between me and some other figure hidden behind her. I attempt to see who it is, hoping for more memories, but to no avail.
What did she mean by was I safe? Why wouldn't I be safe? I hear another voice.
"Okay, you can go inside now." As another familiar face walks through the door. Anthony! I attempted to yell but I seem to have a neck brace on as well, my whole neck felt swollen. He runs to me and grabs my hand.
"Careful!" That voice again, and by now I can tell who it is coming from, a doctor runs in pulling Anthony back as he struggles to get to me. I begin to panic and convulse uncontrollably as Anthony struggles to get to me. I can't tell why I'm freaking out, my breath is fervent, and I feel lightheaded.
"Let me go!" Anthony exclaims and continues to pull to get to me.
"Stop yelling! You can't work her up! It's not safe!" The doctor is trying to calm him down but he is on the point of breaking. He fights the doctor, pulling, yanking, reaching to me. Anthony shoves the doctor which pulls him out of his stronghold. He rushes back to me, and grabs my hand, beginning to ask me questions. Half of them I can't understand, he is speaking fast and his breathing is uneven.
"Do you remember me?!? You have to remember me! Come on Em, come on Em!" I shake my head, I only know his name, but, not our past. The doctor knocks him out with a shot from a needle as long as a pencil, he falls to the ground, limp and unmoving. I'm shaking like I have hypothermia or something, and I black out once more.
