I opened the front door to Cara's and yelled out, "I'm back!"

That was my 'calling.' I did that every time. Just like Cara says, 'I'm home,' at my house.

"Riley?" I heard behind me.

I turned around to see Cara's mom, Raven.

"I'm so glad that your OK," Raven said giving me a big hug.

I laughed and hugged her back.

"Yeah, I'm OK," I said.

She let me go and grew series.

"She blames herself," Raven said.

That's the second time I've heard that now.

I sighed.

"It wasn't," I said.

"I know, everyone knows. She's tried to convince herself, but she hasn't."

"I'll fix that," I said with a smile.

Raven smiled and gave me another quick hug and I went upstairs.

I opened Cara's bedroom door and found her in her office like chair at her laptop, still in her pajamas.

"Cara Rose Finnly, what are you still doing in your pajamas?" I asked smiling and putting my hands on my hips.

She whipped around and stared at me, surprised.

She had, had her music on and most likely didn't hear me yell when I got here.

"Riley," She said quietly.

I didn't say anything or move.

She turned down her music and stood up.

A second later she tackled me with a bone crushing bear hug.

I laughed and hugged her back tightly.

We stood there just hugging.

When I started going numb from the lack of oxygen I said, "Cara, I can know longer feel my body."

She laughed and let go.

"Sorry," She said sitting in her chair again.

I sat at the end of her bed.

"I missed you too," I said smiling.

She smiled but then it dropped.

"I'm sorry," She said avoiding my eyes.

"Cara, its not your fault," I said.

"Ever since you were kid...gone, that's all I've heard," She said.

"What happened at the mall that day had nothing to do with you. You were excited about your date, I had to use the bathroom, and I didn't take you with me," I said. "If anything it would be my fault."

Cara gasped.

I stopped her before she said anything.

"I know its not and I don't blame myself. That man who took me? He told me himself that he had been watching me for awhile, he would have taken me whether you were there or not," I explained.

"But if I had been there, I could have tried to stop him," Cara said sitting forward.

I shook my head slowly.

"He would have either taken you too or have killed you," I said.

This time she shook her head.

"I don't care," She said. "At least I would have tried."

At that moment, I found out what this was all about, I think, I hope.

"Cara, what did you do when you thought something was up?" I asked.

She looked at me confused then understood.

"I ran around the mall yelling your name, almost getting kicked out, but when I told the mall cop he called the police and I helped in anyway I could," She explained.

"So in other words, you tried to save me?" I asked slowly.

She raised an eyebrow and I could see the thoughts running through her head.

She was piecing things together, then it clicked.

She stared at me open mouthed.

"You see? You did try!" I said. "You did everything you could."

"I did," She said so quietly that I almost didn't hear.

"What did you just learn?" I asked with a grin.

She looked at me with amusement in her eyes.

"It wasn't my fault," She said.

I nodded.

"Cara, your my Best Friend," I said standing up with my pinkie sticking out.

She stood up with a smile and twisted her pinkie with mine-like a pinkie promise.

"For Life," She finished giving me another bear hug.

Like I promised, Cara came back in!

This chapter is one of my favorites when it comes to Riley and Cara's friendship, so I hope you like it to!
