The Accidental Skype Call

Chapter:1

It's funny how a small simple action can determine the way your life unfolds. It happened to me it was only a touch of a button, a one second action and it changed me forever. I might have not known it at the time but everything happens for a reason right?

A few months earlier..

I'm a regular girl I guess you could say. My life is not as exciting as most 16 year old girls I'm not really into the whole party scene and things don't come as naturally to me like talking to people or fitting in. My motto is fake it till you make it I mean its worked for as long as I can remember.  I feel like I'm  living in a pattern, all my days are the same but truly thats my own fault I never switch it up but thats just because of all my insecurities.  Now off to school... off to pretending I'm okay.

As I'm walking towards the bus spot I spot Niall the only person in my life that truly knows me and I'm glad to call him my best friend.

" Hey girl you look good actually wow what happened to your oversized sweatshirt look." Niall said

I laugh well someone noticed. "Wow thanks I guess hey does that mean I look horrible every other day."

" Hey I didn't mean it like that.. so in that case if You actually look good have you finally had a realization that you're totally into someone?"Niall says mockingly.  I had put my hair in a braid so I currently have lose beach waves in my hair and I'm wearing my new overalls which is a big step out of my comfort zone. 

"No how many times have I told you I haven't liked anyone remotely enough to have a crush on them!" I say annoyed

You see Niall's always wanted me to start a relationship or at this point even a crush because he wants my life to be a bit more exciting. He thinks it could give me that excitement I've been telling him about but you see I can't even think about having to spend so much time with another human I've gotten to comfortable with Niall that some think were actually in a relationship. 

I can't even think about Niall in that way we grew up together we literally took showers together as toddlers. I'm not blessed in that department like getting anyone to have interest in me. Niall on the other hand, has girls at his finger tips he is a good guy and treats them right so I get it.

(Lunch )

Sadly Niall and I don't have the same fourth period so I go to our usual table and at the corner of my eye I see Niall flirting by the looks of it with his new interest Nicole. I know he has been crushing on her for a good month so I decide to head somewhere else because if he see's me sitting by myself he will rush to me and who knows when he will have another chance to talk to her. I head off to the field and decide to sit on the farthest tree and catch up on some reading yes I love books sue me. I text Niall that he can stay with Nicole and that I'm all good with some company which is actually nonexistent. I've always had a hard time making good friends so all of Niall's friend are all of mine and thats how I've spent my entire life. Sometimes I get nervous that he will ditch me for "cooler" friends because he is quite popular but then I know his character is nothing like that.

Then out of the blue I start to get a video call from someone I don't actually know. The callers name is unknown hmm. Then my fingers press accept and it takes my brain a while to realize that I just accepted a video chat from a random stranger. I look at this guy who seems to have light brown eyes and and very messy dark brow hair jungled up into curls. he's quite attractive not gonna lie and he looks like he could be about my age then the human speaks.

"Yeahh ermm so you're obviously not Jonah." The mystery guy says 

"Well I'm not a guy last time I checked.." I say back so awkwardly Oh my lord did I really just say that. I mentally slap myself 100 times...

He makes out a laugh and his dimples show. "Yeah ... Sorry I've obviously called the wrong person but you actually do look pretty familiar ." He says 

I think too myself what no I would have remembered that face.. 

"Wait I'm certain we've never met." I say

" Oh my god its me Jonah from middle school." He says 

"Jonah who?" I ask his name not ringing any bells

"I asked you to winter formal three times and I got rejected all those three times!" He says trying to hold in his smile caught off by my confused expression. 

" You're such a little liar." I say actually laughing. 

"Yeah I'm kidding but its a good conversation starter right?" He says lifting an eyebrow 

"So mystery man is this how you normally start conversations?" I say

"Well yeah actually its funny to see how people react. Last time this girl thought I was one of the members from one direction.. come on tell me this wasn't the best first conversation you've ever had?" He says 

I smile a genuine smile. 

"I've got to give it to you the weirdest first  conversation definitely yet the most entertaining first conversation." I say not holding back my smile.

" Well you're welcome." He says

"So whats your name because Im assuming its not Jonah?"I say and watch him break into a smile

"Well hello my names Shawn Mendes." Shawn says

"Hi Shawn my names Jules." I say and then hear my lunch bell starting to ring

"Well thats my cue to go back to class." I say kinda disappointed because this was the best conversation I've had in a long time that wasn't with Niall.

"School huh well goodbye Jules it was a pleasure to pretend to know you then actually know you." Shawn says 

I quickly wave and mumble a goodbye wow I don't know how to feel about that. Who is this guy and how did I talk to the opposite gender without completely making a fool out of myself.  Then realization hits me I'll probably never talk to him again he was just a stranger. So I pick myself up grab all my belongings and try to forget him.
