Law looks between you and Smoker, swallowing a bit. He'd never seen anything more ferocious before, a white tiger ripping into someone like that. Luckily, you had turned back. "___..." He speaks up lightly. You flinch at his voice, blinking and looking over at him.

"I..." Looking at the ground, you feel tears well up again. "I don't know what to do now..." You murmur.

"I know..." Law looks down at Smoker again, the silver haired man was probably the closest thing he had to a best friend. Law knew medicine, but he couldn't do anything for a blow to a heart. Past repair, only something powerful and that can move between worlds could... "Restore..."

"Hmm?" You look up at him furrowing your eyebrows a bit. "What did you say?"

"Well... From what I've heard... Beings that can move between planes can bring back the dead... But the cost is usually extreme..." He meets your gaze. Your eyes widen, looking down at Smoker.

"I don't care what the price is. I want him back...what sort of being could do that?"

"Demons... Angels, Reapers... Demons usually though.

"Demon..." You mumble, "We stumbled upon one a few days ago...I wonder if I could find him again."

"I passed a crossroads before I found you, if you know the demon's name then they'll show up." He stands up, "I'll carry him." He adds.

"O-okay." You nod, scrambling to your feet. "How far is it? How long do you think it will take to get there?"

"Ten minutes maybe." He breathes picking up Smoker carefully. "This way." He adds, leading the way. You follow after him, wiping at the dried tears on your face in frustration. A small amount of hope had started to nuzzle its way into your chest, but you snuffed it out. There was no telling what the cost would be or if you'd even have anything to exchange. Ten minutes pass and you both stop at the crossroads. "Alright... call to him." He breathes setting Smoker down.

You take a deep breath.

"Mihawk! I'd like to make a deal!" You say loudly, wringing your fingers together anxiously.

"Hello," He hums, suddenly standing in front of you. "We meet again."

"That we do." You nod, chewing in your lip lightly and glancing at Smoker. "I...I want you to bring him back. Please...I'll do anything. Give you whatever I have." He peers at Smoker briefly.

"I may be able to help, but first, I must ask again... What belongs to you?" You frown, about to object, but think it over.

"He belongs to me." You tell him, looking directly into his eyes. "He is mine, the only thing that is mine that I care about, and I want him back." He blinks before nodding.

"Very well, anything else?" He inquires. You look down, sighing lightly.

"What about my brother? Could you bring him back too?" He hums.

"If he is like you...I cannot." He answers lightly.

"You can't bring back people who aren't completely human?" You question.

"Thing is, human souls are the only ones that can cross the threshold twice." He frowns, "Others can only pass through once safely. Making them cross the threshold again will do more damage than good."

"I see..." You say quietly, looking up at him again. "Then that's all. Please...bring Smoker back."

"You owe me ___." He says before disappearing again. You hear a heavy intake of breath and coughing.
