||"And that was what destroyed you in the end: the longing for something you could never have."||

Some time had passed before Wanda came out of the bathroom. She felt fatigued from the headache, and so badly wanted to sleep.

Steve and Pietro were sitting near the bathroom, talking quietly to themselves when she opened the door. She felt like she had wasted precious time by sitting in the bathroom trying to collect herself because before she knew it, they were saying goodbye.

Wanda so badly wanted to go with them.

Now, she sat in her rocking chair and stared at the wall, thinking about home.

It'd been a few hours since Steve and Pietro had left. Their goodbye was nothing more than a few hugs and a gentle kiss from Steve. She wasn't sure when they would return.

Rarely did she ever feel lonely in this place. Usually, Nik would appear to comfort her, or she would busy herself with sleep in order to pass time and she wouldn't even realize how lonesome being in this room made her feel. But here she was, staring at the walls, trying to figure out why she was even there.

She thought of being back home with the rest of the team, with Nik, and hopefully, he wouldn't feel forced to hide. If she were to go back home, then that meant everything would go back to the way things were before Mark--

Her thoughts stalled.

Then she felt it, the headache beginning to thrum with life in the back of her head.

Carefully, Wanda got up and made her way to the door, but as she attempted to open it, she realized it was locked.

"Hello?" she called out, banging her fist on the metal. "Vera? Hello!"

Her fists began to hurt as she continued to pound on the door.

The scarlet hue of her magic glowed as it slithered from her fingertips into the door, but it only moved slightly, which meant she'd have to use more power to open it, and she was far too exhausted to even do that.

Anxiously, she stormed into the bathroom and turned on the lights, shocked to see that her nose was bleeding. The taste of blood disgusted her, and she leaned over the sink and gagged.

"Calm down," she whispered to herself. "Just calm down."

A knock came from the door, and a moment later, Vera walked in. "Is something wrong, Wanda?" her nurse asked. Wanda stepped out of the bathroom and walked past her nurse, walking over to the luggage in the corner.

"I'd like to go home now if that's okay. I just...I don't want to be here right now, and I feel too hot and this headache is back and I miss my family. Can I go home? I need to go home."

There was a panicked look on Vera's face, and Wanda could sense that her nurse was about to reason with her, but Wanda held up her hand.

"Wanda, listen," Vera grabbed Wanda's shaking hands. "Can you take a breath for me? You're showing signs of a panic attack. You need to breathe, okay? Breathe with me."

"I just want to go home," Wanda said, her eyes hot with tears. "Why can't I go home?"

Vera brought Wanda in for a hug, holding her close. "I wish I could tell you," she whispered. "You just have to trust me that being here is for your own good. You have to think about your baby, Wanda. Soon enough you'll be back home with your family. But for now, I need you to get in bed and rest. I'll stay here with you tonight."

Wanda's breathing settled the longer Vera held her.

She was glad for the hug. Glad that someone was there to comfort her when she needed it most.
