~Chapter 25~
Niall’s POV
I was currently locked in my room just thinking about how badly I screwed up and how I needed to make it up to Heather in all ways possible. I honestly felt like the worst person alive. I knew she was awake, Harry was keeping me updated. He has been the only one to talk to me after the whole incident. I mean Li would say hi, but that was about it. Today everyone decided to go to the hospital to surprise Heather. I, like always, wanted to go but I was advised not to. So that’s my current situation right now. I got off my bed and went to the bathroom to look at myself in the mirror. I had bags under my eyes and small tear stain marks on my cheeks. I washed my face and went back to my bed. I looked around not knowing what to do. That’s when I noticed my guitar, which I had brought along with me for moments like these, resting against the wall. I went over to it and sat down on the chair next to it. I set the guitar on my lap and started to strum the cords creating a melody. I then joined the melody with my voice. I sang along to about 3 or 4 songs when my phone started to ring. I looked over and saw Harry's name pop up.
“H-hello?” I said as I answered the phone. My voice was a tad weird due to the fact that I was singing.
“Niall!” exclaimed a voice I had missed oh so dearly. I didn’t quite know if I was imagining it. I really hoped I wasn’t.
“H-Heather?” I asked into the phone hopefully.
“Wow, I get sent to hospital for one day and you’ve already forgotten me? Wow. I feel the love man.” I heard the same voice reply. A huge grin spread across my lips as my eyes started to sting with tears of joy.
“It’s really you. Oh my god Heather I’m so sorry! I honestly didn’t mean to hurt you, I didn’t know. I swear I would never in a million ye-” I was cut off by her voice again.
“Ni, I forgive you. I know it wasn’t your fault. Don’t beat yourself up about it. I should have told you. I should have told all of you.” She said. I couldn’t help it. The tears started to escape my eyes and my nose was starting to run so I sniffled, and apparently pretty loud considering her next words. “Niall, are you crying?! Please don’t cry because then I’m gonna start crying.” She said. I could hear her voice wavering as she spoke.
“I-I’m just s-so s-sorry.” I replied while shutting my eyes and wiping them with my free hand.
“Niall stop please. Come over to the hospital right now. I miss you and I could really use your lucky Irish charm to help me get better so I can leave this place and enjoy the rest of our vacation.” She said with a little sniffle of her own.
“Okay. I’ll be there in a few. I’m sor-” I was cut off yet again by her voice.
“If you say you’re sorry one more time, I will take away all your food Horan.” She stated. My eyes widened as I gasped.
“Okay, okay. I’ll be there soon.” And with that I hung up and got ready to go.
~~~~~~
During the whole walk I couldn’t stop playing with my fingers. I was so nervous. I mean, what if the lads haven’t forgiven me and they’re only letting me come because Heather wants me there. I soon reached the entrance of the hospital. I stopped in front of it, closed my eyes and took a deep breath. I then started up my walk to the front desk.
“Uh, hi.” I said to the lady. She looked to be in her early twenties. She looked up from the papers and just stared at me. I looked around awkwardly not knowing what to say or do.
“Can I help you?” She asked after a couple minutes of silence.
“Um yeah. I was wondering if you could tell me where the room for Heather Fields is?” I questioned. She looked back down and started typing away.
