~Chapter 4~

Heather's POV

I finally finished cleaning up my apartment when I heard my phone ring. I quickly went to it and checked to see who it was

"Get ready for my revenge." The text read. As soon as I read the text fear started to take over. Though I had a good idea as to who it could be, I refused to believe it to be true. This had to be some sort of nightmare. I decided to go take a shower and take my mind off this for a bit. For all I know this was all just some sort of sick prank. I turned off the water and went to get a towel from the closet.

CRASH

I quickly went downstairs to check out what happened. When I entered the kitchen, on the counter, there was a note and broken plates all over the floor. I grabbed the note from the table and read it

"If I were you, I would watch my back very carefully.." By now, fear was all I could feel. I decided that I needed to go stay somewhere else for tonight, maybe a hotel, instead of my own apartment for a while due to how this person was able to make contact already this easily. I quickly packed all my stuff and left.

I went to a random hotel as far away from my apartment as possible.

"Hello! Welcome to the Marriott hotel, do you have a reservation with us?" a lady at the front desk asked me with a genuine smile.

"Uh... No, is it still possible to get a room here?" I asked.

"Let me check if there are any rooms available for you Miss." the lady replied. "Ah! It seems like you are in luck, we have one room available for you."

"Thank you very much!" I replied as she handed me the room key.

I made it to my room, which was 252. I decided to lay down on the bed and watch some tv to keep my mind occupied. Suddenly, my phone buzzed. It was another text from the same person.

"You really think you can hide from me?" the text read.

I was beyond terrified now. Just as I put my phone down I heard someone knocking on the door forcefully. I jumped and didn't move for a couple minutes. I then walked up slowly to the door and saw that no one was there. I opened the door slightly and saw a box. I quickly opened the door wider and grabbed it slamming the door shut again while pitting on the double lock. I went back to the bed and opened it carefully. It was a picture of me and Ruth, like the one in her room, except I had an X over my face this time. I quickly got my phone and texted that number again.

"Ruth?!" I texted.

"Ah you put the puzzle together." she replied. "I'm going to kill you." read her next text. I was scared out of my mind. I didn't know what to do.

The next day I went straight to the police station to ask for help.

"I'd like to report a threatening person" I said to the police officer at the front desk. A different police officer came out and took me into a room and started questioning me. I showed them my phone and they started a search to find Ruth. I didn't know what to do. I knew Ruth was mean and possibly had some issues, but full blown crazy never crossed my head.

It has been about 5 hours and still no sign of Ruth. Could she have found somewhere so that no one could find her? After a couple more hours a police officer came into the room with a sad and pitiful face.

"We are very sorry Miss. Fields, but it seems that Ruth got a head start and is hiding out somewhere. I've decided to put you somewhere safe and when we find Ruth and when you are safe, you will be able to come back."

I was in complete and utter shock. "Where would I even go?"

The officer looked at me a little apprehensive. "The best option, given the severity of the situation, would be to place you in a different country."

"When do I have to go?" I asked the police officer. I was purely shocked at the fact that I needed to move to a different country for my own safety, because of her.

"It will be best if you leave tomorrow, so tonight you may stay here for your safety while we make the arrangements." The officer was about to leave until one question popped into my mind

"Where will I be staying?" I asked in a shaky voice.

"We think that a pretty safe place would be London, England" he replied. "The rest will be sorted out tomorrow. Get some rest Miss. Fields" he said.

"Thank you very much. I really appreciate it." And just as he was about to leave I asked, "I'm sorry, what was your name?"

He chuckled and smiled, "My name is John" and with that he left. His name warmed my heart and cooled my nerves. That was my father's name. I then went to lay down on the sofa to sleep for a bit .
