“Are you sure you’re okay Kalene?” Josh asked as she came out of her bathroom trying to dry her hair, which was harder than it sounds with her ears.

Kalene sighed, “Yes Josh, I’m fine. I just wanna curl up in my bed and read my book for a bit.” when she pulled her arm down her gaze lingered on her empty wrist before she tossed her towel into her hamper. Josh pulled her into a hug as she neared him. Josh rested his chin on her head as he stroked her hair.

“Everything’s gonna be fine Kale’s. I’m gonna go talk to Davina and see if he can’t find a heritage spell or something so we can figure this out.” Josh said comfortingly, pulling away and squeezing her shoulder with affection.

“If Klaus comes home you better high tail into this bedroom understand?” Kalene called before he left.

“Understood, captain.” Josh said with a sarcastic wave before shutting her door behind him. Josh turned down the hall and came in contact with Elijah.

“Whoa, not sure if it’s a good idea for you to be over here. Kalane’s not real happy with you.” Josh said as he stepped around Elijah and continued down the hallway. Elijah walked to Kalene’s door and stopped as he heard her talking.

“I swear today could not get any worse! First I get attacked by a psycho maniac who tried to  kill me, then I sprout cat ears and a damn tail, then I fall into a fountain courtesy of a sexy serial killer, and now I’ve lost my bracelet!! Please life, continue to pile more shit onto me.” there was a small crash as if she fell over. He heard her groan.

“It was a sarcastic comment not a demand!” after a few minutes of quiet Elijah knocked knowing he would need permission to enter her room. Not knowing it was him Kalene gave him permission. When he entered he saw she was trying to fix her book shelf.

“What do you want Marcel.” Kalene said on a tired sigh.

“I’m sorry but I’d like to believe I’m much more sophisticated and handsome than Marcellus.” Elijah said with a slight chuckle. Kalene whipped around with a low growl.

“What are you doing here?!” She questioned.

Elijah pulled the bracelet out and held it out to her, “I’m assuming this belongs to you.” Kalene stared at the bracelet for a moment before gently taking it out of his hand. ELijah couldn’t help  but notice how soft her skin was as her hand lingered on his for just a moment.

“Um, thanks. I didn’t know what happened to it.” Kalene whispered trying to clip the bracelet on but struggling since her claws have yet to retract.

“Here, let me.” Elijah offered as he reached towards her arm, Kalene pulled away for just a moment before allowing him to take her wrist and clip the bracelet on again. While he was focusing on the bracelet Kalene couldn’t help but admire the pure perfection of his face, Elijah looked up and locked eyes with her. His hazel brown eyes seeming to lure her closer to his ever so inviting lips. Just as Elijah would have connected their lips Kalene turned her head and pulled her wrist out of his hand and stepped back. Clearing her throat she looked away feeling the heat creep up her face.

“Um, um, maybe you should leave.” Kalene said quietly as she started stepping away. Elijah grabbed her hand and stopped her.

“Umm, Elijah...what are you doing?” Kalene squeaked. Elijah pulled her close to his chest and placed a soft kiss on her forehead before he disappeared.

Kalene looked around confused, “Um, what the hell just happened?” she said aloud before she sat on her bed.

“Hello, brother. I see you’ve been faring well without me.” Elijah turned to see Klaus lounging on the couch with blood wine.
