"Milo?"

"Yes?"

"Remember when I asked you if you wanted to know all my secrets?"

"Of course,"

"Well here's one, Jasper isn't my real name,"

"What? Why would you lie?"

"Dimitri is my first name, Jasper is my last so I technically didn't lie."

Dimitri Jasper.

"I see... well both names sound nice,"

"As does Milo,"

No it doesn't silly. I've never been complemented on my name before, he must be joking.

"So Dimitri, why the last name?"

"Back at home I used to have a friend who always called me by my last name, I guess it just stuck with me. Then one day she stopped, she stopped saying my name, stopped bugging me to buy her movie tickets, she stopped saying hi from across the street, she stopped smiling, she stopped putting her hair up in that nice little bun, she just stopped being her. It was like everything inside of her that told her 'life is worth it' had just vanished in a matter of one night."

"What happened?"

"I never knew, she left town a week later and throughout that she never talked to me once, once! For god's sake she left everything behind, she left me behind!"

"Don't say that, she obviously means the world to you and I'm sure she thinks the same about you."

"I don't even know if she's alive Milo! For all I know she could be lying in a ditch somewhere and nobody would ever find her."

"Why would you say that Dimitri?"

"Because the world isn't safe anymore,"

And with that, Dimitri broke down. His limp arms wrapped around his slender legs as he timidly shook with whimpers silently escaping. I jumped from my roof and onto his in a heartbeat, my arms found it's way around his chest as I sat behind him, comforting him.

"I promise you it's safe, and maybe it's not but I promise you right here and right now it's safe."

In a quiet quiver, a faint whisper escaped Dimitri,

"Yes that's right, because you're here."
