Five...Four...Three...Two...One... The bell rings, my watch is set at the time of my new school. I can finally look at my watch which was five minutes ahead without telling me that there was a problem that the bell didn't ring when it should!
I quickly put my stuff in my bag, I can't stand two hours of French!
The recess, ten minutes of break intensely wished during the hour and a half that has passed, has finally arrived! I tell Caroline that I'll stay with Tom, Emma and Andy.
I go down the stairs, step in the courtyard and spot them from a far distance. There is a guy with them who I don't know. I say hello to Emma that I hadn't seen yet. They introduce the guy to me. Frederick, brown hair, a little taller than me, no specific style since he has a uniform like everyone else. Andy is not there.
I hear my name. I turn around, I doubt that someone called me, but just in case... Yes it's really me who where called. Camille and Caroline at the other end of the courtyard, shouting to inform me that the math class I should have after is canceled. Then, they run to inform others of the class.
Emma, who has heard it, ask me if I want to stay with her, she doesn't have class either. I tell her ok.
I talk to everyone during the ten minutes of recess, and get to know Frederick a little bit more. But ten minutes isn't long enough, so the bell rings announcing the end of the break... Well, for them, because I don't have class right now hahahaha!
It's the moment Andy chose to arrive. She apologizes, claiming that her math teacher wanted to talked to her, then she says hello to Frederick before going to her next class like everyone else.
Emma and I sit down on the grass and we begin to talk. She asks me if I get used to my new home.
"Yeah like a hole in the head! No seriously, I think that I get used to it faster than I thought. Especially thanks to you guys. I feel like I have been there longer than two days."
She tells me that if I stay who I really am and that I don't pretend to be someone I'm not, I'm welcome in the gang. That was a really sweet thing to say. It makes me smile.
"Hey, that's miss I-want-everyone-to-look-at-me !" Emma says, frowning her eyebrows.
I turn my head. Agnes, the future Miss Universe of my class. She passes close to us, with a group of her friends, to get into the hall. I turn my head again to Emma with a look that I want to be interrogator.
"There aren't many people that we can't stand, but, the girls of her kind really piss us off. Especially if they like to bad mouth about people just to serve their unimportant interests! ".
I keep my interrogator look.
"Well, it's better to tell you now because you'll probably hear about it if you hang out with us. She spread a rumor about me and Andy..."
(I automatically think about the story I heard back in French class a while ago)
"...being together..."
(So it really was that!)
"...All this because a friend of her asked Andy to go out with him and she refused."
I confess her that someone had already vaguely told me of this rumor, it doesn't surprise her. Then I ask her to explain it more.
"Well actually, Andy refused to go out with this guy and it didn't please all of their gang. You see, this is the kind of people who want to be popular above all, he should have never being rejected by anyone before so that's why he reacted badly. Since Andy has never been out with anyone, he told that she was a lesbian, just to be a little less ridicule and get his revenge. Then this girl, Agnes, got a wicked pleasure to spread more rumors, saying that Andy was going out with me. In the end this rumor was funny to us, we never done anything to refute it, because we don't see the bad to be called lesbians. The rumor isn't true, but it's not an insult, so we just doesn't care. The fact is that even if the rumor that they have said is false and without much matter, we don't like this childish way of having responded like that to something not serious at all! Because, let's be realistic, this isn't the only and last time he'll be rejected by a girl !"
