The prophecy

I jumped atop Silver-blade and swatted her with one of my four white feathered wings. "Tag, your it." I said as I jumped off and ran away with my golden horns glistening on my head. Silver-blade flew ahead of me using her black leathery wings. "Oh, come on. That's not fair. I can't fly." I said. "Too bad, there were no rules set Silver-light." "Roarrrrrrrrrrrrr." I heard a roar in the distance. "Oh, time to go eat." I said. I ran along the path as silver-blade flew above me. We made to the middle of the plains and split up to head to our different families caves. I heard silver-blade call out to her mother flame-wing. I continued to run up the mountain to my mothers cave along with my twin sister, Dark-shade. We ran into the cave with Hungary stomaches. Our mom, magic-wing had a large cow and six sheep piled up for us to pick through. I pounced the leg of a sheep immediately and began to devour it.

Then our mother addressed us. "Children, I think it's time you both learn to fly." Dark-shade and I both chorused our cheers. Then mother continued. "Tomorrow we will start to lean at sunrise and practice until noon." We both nodded agreement and while chewing mouthfuls of meat. I went to bed happy that night. Tomarrow I was going to learn to fly and I have a caring mother here to help me do it. I thought as I snuggled up under my mothers wing.

In the middle of the night I woke to the cold chill of the wind hitting my skin. I opened my eyes to see that my mother had left the cave. I aroused dark-shade and we walked out the cave together and looked down into the valley. We saw several flames from dragons and they were lighting torches. Then we saw our mother in the center of the group. She spoke to the others around her. "We must not kill my hatchlings. Just because someone predicted it doesn't mean it will come true." Another dragon stepped up to face her. He was large with dominant red skin. His leathery wings were black along with the tip of his tail. I recognized him as our clans King. He faced her defiantly but our mother was brave and she stood her ground. He spoke "Shaman, will you please read the prophecy once more."

A skinny old dragon beside him stepped up and spoke in a rough voice. "In one hundred years there will be twins of the same mother hatched. One will have smooth white scales and be peaceful while the other will have black rough scales and be very irrational and angry. Dark-shade and I looked down at ourselves and we both frowned in worry. The shaman continued. "They will represent the yin and yang evil and good. On their first birthday they will receive their power. Then They will travel far and wide to restore balance to the earth but they will be stopped by dark forces. When the yin and yang dragons are killed the world will plunge into eternal darkness and destruction. This is why our descendants should kill these two hatchlings before their first birthday and stop this destruction."

The shaman closed his eyes and bowed his head. Then he returned to the side of our king. Our mother spoke up. "What if the prophet was wrong? What if we kill them and it brings the dawn of destruction early? We have no sure way of knowing what it will do."  "We will kill these hatchlings and it is not up to you." The group then disbanded and our mom bowed her head. Flapping her wings she began to fly to the cliff at the base of our cave. She found us wrapping each other to keep eachother warm in our sleep. We pretended to be asleep as she walked near us and covered us with her wing and sighed a sad sigh and she began to weep. I could feel a few tears that ran along her jawbone and dropped down onto my forehead I opened one eye to look at dark-shade to find her already asleep. I closed my eyes and silently cried myself to sleep. I don't ever want my birthday to come is the last thought I remember thinking before drifting off to sleep.
