~Aki's P.O.V~

The soft light peeked out through my window, waking me up. I groggily rose up on the thin mattress on the floor. I was excited and nervous, I was experiencing that feeling where you are anxious to know what happens, but not sure you want to find out. Why? I had just graduated the soul reaper academy, meaning that I would be put into a squad.

I groaned thinking about the rumors of my captain. Captain Zaraki? I believed his name was. Well, I heard awful things about him, slightly draining out most of my excitement. But not all, I was still excited since, I'm finally a shinigami.

My kido is better then combat, and I use an elemental zanpakuto, which makes me slightly worried, since squad eleven only is suppose to use a melee type of zanpakuto and kido is frowned upon. I sighed again, slightly scowling, thinking about what may happen. Will I be demoted? Transferred? I asked myself as I got up and started to get ready for the long day ahead of me.

The sun shined greatly, as if it wanted to make me stand out. Even though I already do with my crimson eyes. I sighed as I shunpo to the district eleven barracks.

I was at the threshold when I was greeted by a little girl. A cute little girl, since she had a pastel light pink hair color. I was tempted to squeeze and hug her, but I then noticed her lieutenant's badge around her arm and decided to not cuddle her like a little teddybear.

"Um, this is the eleventh district, correct?" I asked. The tiny girl nodded,

"So you must be our new recruit." She said, eyeing me. I nodded back at her, "Yes. I'm Aki Motsumoto." I introduced myself to her and she smiled brightly at me, "I'm Yachiru!" She said perkily and grabbed my hand hauling me inside.

As I was dragged in the room was filled with other shinigami. Some I recognized from the soul reaper academy. All of a sudden the talking was filled with silence. The room rippling with quietness. I turned my head to see a man with spiky black hair and bells hanging off the sharp points of his hair.

Bells? I thought silently.

All of a sudden Yachiru ran over to the man, "Kenny!" She said childishly hanging on the back of him. Which had me then noticed his attire of clothing. He was wearing a captain's cloak.

So he's Captain Zaraki...

"Alright!" His voice boomed as the room somehow became quieter, "Since today is the day of new recruits I want to see how strong you are." He pointed at me making me feel smaller then I already am. "You're gonna fight Ikkaku in front of everyone." He said, stepping back and revealing a circle on the ground. I walked over with some bald guy in front of me.

Must be Ikkaku.

I knew I couldn't use shikai because it would reveal my elemental zanpakuto. Maybe he isn't that strong. I thought. I gripped my sword and slid it out of its sheath. I got into a stance, tense and ready.

Ikkaku scoffed, "I don't want to kill you kid. You're so small, I bet a ant can beat you." He said, causing some laughter to erupt from the rest of squad eleven.

I bit my tounge, holding back my words. Instead of retorting back I lunged at him my sword high in the air as I brought it down grazing his shoulder, causing blood to drip down. He smirked, "That tickled, kid."

He took his sword and sheath in one hand each. Running at me through the confined circle, slashing at my head. I'm short, so it didn't hit me. I can rely on my agility... I thought silently.

I took the opportunity to swing my blade into his side. Making a deep cut having crimson liquid fall onto the line of the circle.

He narrowed his eyes, by his expression I realized something. My eyes widening, He wasn't even trying. I was out of breath from running around avoiding his slashes. He took this opportunity to hit me on the face with his sheath sending me sprawling to the floor.

I coughed out blood as I tried to get up, but failed. Since he knocked out a couple teeth I continued spitting and coughing out blood. I slowly got on my feet, Ikkaku wanting me to stay down using the sharp end slashed at my side like I did to him.

I clutched my side, my own red blood matching my eye color. He didn't seem to mind that I fell on my knees, he just kicked me on my other side and continued hitting me with the sheath.

I knew the only way for him to stop was to use shikai, but I didn't want to show my elemental zanpakuto. I just continued getting hit, now in a fetal position on the floor.

"Enough." Roared Kenpachi as he shoved Ikkaku aside grabbing me by my long brown hair, putting me on my feet. Since I was petite my legs started dangling as his grip tightened on my hair.

"What the hell was that?!" He yelled in my face. My eyes closed since I knew I couldn't cry. Crying to a shinigami meant that you are weak and defeated, so I held my emotion in like I always did.

"You are a disgrace!" He hissed as he pulled me higher into the air. My feet a couple inches above the ground. He looked me dead in the eyes with his one eye that wasn't covered by his eyepatch.

He threw me on the ground abruptly and since I was already injured with bruises on that side that I fell on I had let out a loud gasp of pain. "I'm taking you out of my squad. Good luck where ever you end up, you'll need it." On the verge of tears, I would've started to cry, but my vision became black before I could.
