Chapter 5: Hayate Mori

~Aki's pov~

The tall black haired man stumbled in clumsily, due to his fast and bursting entrance into the captain's quarters.

"Idiot..." I mumbled quietly. You know me, I couldn't help myself. The tall maybe 5'11 , 6,1 guy smiled sheepishly, a smile that seemed recognizable and friendly...Warm and kind...

Kinda.

I looked up at him seeing his, hazel, chocolate eyes? I couldn't really tell from this angle in the office, since the seemingly clumsy baka was closer to the door. Toshiro caught me staring and cleared his throat as he looked over as well. "Hayate Mori. This is our new recruit," he nodded in my direction, "Aki Motsumoto. Aki this Hayate Mori, not too long ago he was new to the this division as well." Hayate and I then looked up at each other, well I looked up since I was way shorter, basically Toshiro's height. I nodded in acknowledgment, he did the same, adding a warm smile. Toshiro added, "And Hayate maybe you can control you amount of cautiousness when you walk in next time."

The corners of my mouth twitched a bit, Hayate didn't notice, but Toshiro did. In response the taichou looked at me with a quirk of an eyebrow, I pretended not to notice his unusual confused reaction.

"Well..." Rangiku began, "we should get training, right Aki?" My head snapped over to the busty woman's direction, I nodded. Rangiku had a sparkle in her eyes as she jumped up clapping, "Okay let's goooooooo!!" She said a little too perkily. 'This may not be every day training.' I thought to myself as Rangiku hooked her arm in mine and whisked me out the door.

"Wai-" I heard Toshiro say, but was cut off when Rangiku slammed the door in his face. "RANGIKU!!" He yelled with obvious annoyance that could be heard through a solid door. I then heard Hayate speak for the first time, "Um, Toshiro-taichou could I be of assistance?" He said in a voice so smooth, and calm it was like silk.

"No." Toshiro replied simply, "You'll just screw it up."

Maybe only I could hear, Toshiro probably couldn't hear over his possibly oversized migraine, but I sworn I could've heard Hayate say, "Your loss."

The corners of my mouth quirked up a little bit again.

A/N SORRY FOR THE LONG TIME IT TOOK TO UPDATE. GOMANSAI!!!! I had lost my motivation to write, since no one really ever read, commented, or voted on Fire Froze. Now I'm just gonna write, because I want to. Still, votes, comments, shares, and reads are appreciated. :)
