~Aki's pov~

After Rangiku and I left the barracks we, well she, decided to take me on a walk. "Where are we going?" I asked for the fourth time. "Just shut up." Rangiku said to me for the fourth time. I sighed, not really liking the anticipation.

There was a quiet silence between the two of us, it wasn't awkward, it was just unusually quiet. After a long silence Rangiku finally chimed in, "Toshiro has a eye for you, you know."

"Wait, what?"

She spun to face me, "You know boy likes girl, girl doesn't realize it. That type of thing. Although he doesn't know he likes you yet, but he likes you." I pulled her down by the sleeve, "Rangiku... What the hell are you talking about? Are you drunk again?"

"Aki, I'm being for real. He LIKES you."

I opened my mouth to say something, but was cut off when I heard someone call Rangiku's name. We both swung to the direction of the voice. There were two unfamiliar girls across from us, they both were about the same height. One of them had short black hair with a fringe in the middle of her face with violet eyes, and the other had her purple blackish hair tied in a bun. The second girl also had dark brown eyes filled with vibrancy.

The two reached us and the girl with brown eyes, looked at me with a confused expression "Hey Rangiku," she began, "who's your friend?" Rangiku looked over to me then back at the girl. "That's my cousin Aki."

The girl with the kind brown eyes beamed at me with a bright smile, "I'm Momo Hinamori, lieutenant of the fifth division." The girl with the short black hair looked at me, "I'm Rukia Kuchiki member of the thirteenth division, what division are you from?" She asked curiously.

"Tenth division." I replied simply. She gave me a confused look. "I was just transferred."

"Oh? From which team?" Momo asked.

It took me awhile to reply, reminising my first day at the hands of Captain Zaraki, "Team 11." I replied reluctantly, not wanting to share such personal information with a complete stranger. Everyone's eyes widened as a silence filled the air.

"Soooo...." Rangiku began, in attempt to break the silence, "Where were you and Rukia heading off to?" She asked Momo. "Oh yeah, we were about to get lunch." She turned her attention to me. "Would like to join us, Aki?"

Before I could reply, Rangiku jumped in, "We were about to go training, maybe next time." She said, to Momo and Rukia who then left with a brief goodbye.

"Where to next?" I asked.

Instead of answering my question she said, "You know Toshiro likes you right?"

"Rangiku," I said through clenched teeth, getting very annoyed, "That's enough. No one likes anybody, okay? Can we just change the subject, please?"

"Okay, okay..." She said putting her hands up, she looked at the sky her orange hair shining from the bright sun, "Ummmmm..... Has your zanpakuto gotten to shikai form yet?"

The question was so random it took me a while to answer, "Uh yeah..why're you asking?" I didn't really wanted to give her the complete truth, I mean I did unlock shikai, but that's it. I haven't really gotten to know my zanpakuto, all I know is her name.

"Because....Okay promise not to tell anyone?"

"I promise." I said solemnly.

"The 3rd seat position is open, and I really want you to get it....But I have a feeling Hayate may get it, I don't know...." She said, thinking quietly to herself. "Do you know how to use flash step?"

I looked at the ground in shame, and shook my head. Maybe if I knew more about my zanpakuto I would be better with flashstep, I thought to myself silently with a internal shrug.

Her eyes widened in disbelief, "Then I guess we really do need to do some training, come on." She then grabbed my arm and whisked me off, again.

-

The strawberry blonde had led me to a secluded area in the forest. A nice spot for training with trees surrounding all sides with a huge circle of dirt for fighting. "Okay, so we're gonna improve your flash step, ready?" She asked me.

As if I had a choice... I thought to myself.

Rangiku then demonstrated how to flash step and I did my best to mimick her movements. Except when she stepped the second time I just fell on my face in the ring of dirt.

Rangiki sighed, "Oi Aki, you sure are a piece of work." I got up from the ground, glared at her with my fiery eyes, then kicked her. "Ouch!" She exclaimed. I just shrugged in response.

"You know if you could get in contact with your zanpakuto it might be easier for you. Maybe your zanpakuto spirit could teach you, cause you're just not getting it."

"Okay okay..." I said not wanting to go on and on about this. I then sat down with my sword on my lap and started to begin the jinzen process.
