Eventually lunch came around and Evelyn quickly made her way over to the boarded up building to find Yasmin. She walked past groups that were sat on the floor, sat on picnic benches, leaning on the walls and there was a couple of people sitting inside the fountain. Not on the fountain, in the fountain. She walked past the boarded up building and then looked around to see if she could see Yasmin. A giggling sound could be heard getting closer and closer until Evelyn felt a hand on her shoulder. She jumped before turning around and then sighing in relief when she saw Yasmin laughing and smiling.
"You should have seen your face, you were so scared!" Yasmin wiped a tear from her eye and then stood up straight. "Come on, I'll show you where we sit."
Yasmin started to walk past the building and Evelyn closely followed. Behind the building was much nicer than the rest of the school. The trees were full of leaves, there were plenty of bushes that were full of flowers. Yasmin waved to four people sitting on a picnic bench that was underneath an overhanging tree. As they approached them, one of the boys stood up and smirked at Evelyn
"So, who's this?" He leaned on Evelyn's shoulder and looked at her. Evelyn recognised his voice and guessed that it belonged to Cameron, the boy who shouted out during the assembly.
"Cameron leave her alone, she doesn't need you scaring her away" Jonah said while everyone glared at Cameron. He walked away from Evelyn and winked at her after he sat down. Jonah's voice reminded Evelyn of the spreadsheet joke he made in English. Even though she remembered it, it was no longer funny and she didn't smile. Not even a little.
"Everyone, this is Evelyn. She's new here and doesn't really know how things work. So if you could make her feel welcome then that would be much appreciated." Yasmin smiled at them all and then back to a very awkward looking Evelyn. "I'll introduce everyone." She pointed at cameron, who was still looking at her.
"You already know Cameron, he's extremely annoying and to be honest we don't know why he's here with us."
"Hey thats a bit harsh, you wanted me to sit here in the first place." Cameron leant back on his seat and then remembered that he was on a picnic bench with no back, which resulted in him falling backwards onto the grass. He made a loud exclamation that should never be repeated, before sitting up slowly and then sat back down quietly. His hair was dark brown and he had a fringe that swooped in front of his left eye. He was just wearing a plain white t-shirt and some black jeans. A black jacket was over his t-shirt and a chain necklace was placed around his neck.
"Right right" Yasmin rolled her eyes before moving onto a girl that was sitting next to Cameron.
"This is Ivy, she is obsessed with nature and thats why we sit here, she can't be away from nature for too long otherwise... well we don't know what would happen but she just stays in a 8 metre radius of nature at all times." Ivy waved at Evelyn with a smile on her face. She had straight, dirty blonde hair that reached her shoulders. She too had a fringe that was covering her forehead. She was wearing a light purple shirt that revealed her shoulders and some blue denim shorts with lace at the bottom. It was only then when Evelyn noticed that Ivy was the owner to cat ears and a tail that were slightly darker than her hair in colour. She thought that is was best not to say anything and she let Yasmin continue speaking.
Yasmin's finger moved onto Jonah who was sitting opposite Cameron. He had a goofy smile plastered onto his face. Evelyn immediately knew that he was the comedian of the group.
"This is Jonah, he likes to think of himself as the funny guy but his jokes are less than amusing" Yasmin explained.
"That's not nice, personally I think that they're egg-cellent" he chuckled but the others didn't look impressed.
"Oh tough crowd, I thought you would have cracked up by now" he chuckled again but then looked down when everyone gave him a death stare.
"Fine I'll stop" he looked disappointed but in no time at all he was back to his happy self. He had curly blonde hair and was wearing a red and white flannel shirt with some blue jeans.
"Jonah it was funny, trust me. We just all forgot to laugh. Finally, we have Ron Weasley over here." Her finger moved to a shy looking boy who was sat next to Jonah. He did look like Ron Weasley but had some black, square glasses balanced on his nose. He had a black t-shirt that read 'don't worry Pluto, I'm not a planet either.' He was also wearing black jeans and he looked down to avoid unwanted eye contact.
"His name is Robin. He doesn't talk much but it's nice to have him around." Robin smiled gently and waved to Evelyn. She smiled back at him and then watched as Yasmin went to sit down. Unfortunately, she could still sense Cameron staring at her. She gave him a look that said:
"If you look at me like that one more fucking time then I will personally gauge your eyes out with a rusty spork."
Cameron looked away quickly as he didn't want to loose his eye sight.
