13/1/12 - Ryan

Dear Diary... So that message I received? Yeah, well let me explain about how that one turned out...

"Hey, saw your profile, I like your naughty nurse outfit ;) So I was wondering whether you'd like to go on a date with me sometime?"

Believe me I'm not shallow, but I admit after I read this the first thing I did was look at his profile. Simply because if he was ugly I'd say he was a creep, but if he was good looking I'd just call him flirty, go figure.

Damn, he was quite hot. And a personal trainer I see... I typed a quick reply back to Ryan telling him that I'd like to go on a date with him, he sent back a reply with his phone number and told me that if I liked him by Friday we'd go out. How cute? No pressure, I like it.

"He seems cute, and he's really friendly." I told Rosie on the phone as I was on the bus to the office.

"Yeah, that's what they all say. Next thing they know they're chopped up into little pieces and are scattered about in a ditch..." She said negatively as thought this had always been her opinion on online dating when in fact she's the one that set me up for it, having even used it a few times herself!

I laughed a little uneasily knowing that she did sort of have a point but pushed that aside, I'm sure I'd know if I was talking to a murderer. "I don't think he's capable of murder, Rosie..." I told her, doubting my own words and hoping she wouldn't hear it in my voice. I'd known him less than 24 hours; I had no clue what he was capable of.

"We'll see..." She said sceptically and I couldn't help but think she wanted me to get killed, and we're friends? I know, I question why every single day, crazy girl.

"Rosie!" I scolded her with a laugh in my voice unable to keep a serious composure, I heard her laugh down the phone and knew she was kidding.

"No, but seriously. Watch out. Anyway, I have to go, I have a meeting." She said and we exchanged out goodbyes before she sharply cut the line.

Rosie was a magazine editor and it was her job to decide which photo's were printed, which colour schemes were used etc. Yeah, she'd done pretty well for herself and I must admit I was jealous of her but at the same time I was proud, like a mother. Rosie and I'd been friends for over 7 years and despite the fact that she was 3 years older than me I still felt the need to mother her because, although she was smart she had her stupid moments and really didn't act her age. Thus, it was up to me to protect her from cut knee's - which occurred regularly on nights out - and occasionally broken hearts. What with being the relationship expert that I am... Yeah, maybe I should take my own advice sometimes.

"He's gay." Chelsea guaranteed me on Ryan's sexual preference. "He'd never go for you." She was joking obviously, but I admired how she could keep a straight face while joking, I never could. "Thanks Chels." I said sarcastically, pouring out a cup of tea for my boss as Chelsea fiddled with notes and pieces of paper.

"No problem, bitch." She said with a big grin, turning from me and arranging her papers. "But he does actually seem quite nice... Too nice..."

"He's not gay!" I reprimanded her teasingly for what she was implying, I pushed her playfully as I went to give Derek his tea.

So conversation with Ryan never ceased, he'd text back promptly with engaging answers and would always ask questions. Even if we didn't go out, he was a great person to text. You know when you just want to text someone who will actually text back? And who will take interest? And will ask you questions not just talk about themselves? Yeah, for that he was pretty much perfect.

And that continued till about Thursday night when he text me saying "So, have you thought anymore about our date? (: Xx" Of course I'd want to go on a date with him, he was lovely, really. Like great to talk to, a good listener, he was funny and I might as well add in that he was attractive. What? It's a definite plus! And a personal trainer?! Was he a God? I think he might be. So I agreed to go on a date with him, it couldn't hurt right? If anything it would have hurt not to go out after all those reasons I just listed.
