Chapter 12

Winter POV~

Sleep...Rest....

Something I would not imagine having throughout my years, basically because my father would argue when I was young, not letting me sleep at the time. Then when I joined the Atlas military, sleeping wasn't an option; working days and nights to keep up on Ironwoods tail.

Ironwood...

'Hey...sleepyhead...'

Huh? 

"Hey, as much as I would love to enjoy your peaceful, angelic face, I can't carry the both of you," Qrow chuckles. 

I smile to myself, "I'm up, I'm up, sorry that you can't handle the both of us," I chuckle back.

The avian man smirked to me and picked up his niece, Ruby. "As much as I would like to prove you wrong, I'm going to be the responsible adult and take care of my loving niece." 

The ship landed as we walked out, following a trail to a house, "Responsible? Since when were you responsible?" I chuckle, crossing my arms. 

He smiled, "Since I got a degree of teaching and I am a certified huntsman; just like you got your position as being commander of the military,"

I nod then looked down, "I'm thinking of leaving and resigning my title as that..."

He looked at me with shocked eyes, "W-what? but you worked hard in that position...is it about..."

"That's only part of it, even before I joined, I just wanted to prove to my father that I would be more than a secretary of his business. And I did, but if you saw..." 

"You looked like you just met with rest when you slept on my chest back in the ship," I looked at me, "I did notice that," 

I blushed a bit then smiled a bit, "Yeah, but I will still be a huntress, just in a much more...comfortable position," 

Qrow smiled and kissed the top of my head, "Remember, I support you one hundred percent," 

"Always?"

"Well, now," he chuckles. "that depends on the situation," 

I looked at him, a bit offended, "What do you mean--"

"Oh look, we're here," 

I look up to a two story house, rather welcoming. A blond man came out and went to Qrow, worried filled his eyes. 

Qrow motioned me to get in the house, wanting to have privacy with the man. 

I nodded and proceeded in the house, to the living room as I sat on the couch. I looked around the welcoming living room and saw pictures. I look down to my hands and had flashbacks of my own home; the unwelcoming cold when you entered, the vibe of people looking down upon you. 

Shaking my head from that memory I see the man carry Ruby to her room, I then looked at Qrow who sighed in exhaustion, "Qrow, what about Yang?" 

"Apparently, she got transported before us to here, she's doing well...physically,"

"That poor girl...I can't imagine..."

"She'll be fine, she's like her mother, she will get back on her feet in time, but for now, they both need rest," He sits next to me as I lay my head on his shoulder. I closed my eyes, hearing his steady heartbeat. 

"Tai said we could say here in the guest room, just until we could figure out what's going on," 

I nodded, feeling his fingers entwined with mine as I did back, "He won't mind me," 

"Nah, unlike me, he doesn't have any grudges with people in Atlas like me," 

I open one eye and looked at him, "What about--"

"You're an exception," He booped my nose. 

I chuckle softly to him and closed me eyes as minutes passed, "Do you want to sleep in the room? It will be more comfortable there," 

I shook my head, "I'm fine staying like this," I said tiredly, falling asleep. 

He smiles to me and brings me closer to his chest as he carried my legs over his lap. 

I close my eyes, continuing my rest now on his chest as he held me protectively. 

*Timeskip*

I woke up, finding myself in a different room and on a bed. 'Qrow probably had to do something,'  I thought to myself. 

Yawning, I got out of bed and went down stairs to see Tai, frustrated, as he started cooking something. I walked up to him, meeting his gaze, "Mind if I help you?" 

Tai shrugs and nods, "Can you give these ingredients from this list and chop them all up for me please?" 

I nod and got the ingredients that were assigned to me, starting to dice them up. 

"How do you deal with him anyway? If you don't mind me asking," He asked as he was making a certain sauce. 

"How have you dealt with Raven?" I asked him back. 

He chuckles, "I don't know how, I just loved her," 

I smiled and finished up, "Me too, yes, he can be difficult at some times, but at the end of the day, we love each other...that's what matters," 

Tai smiles to me, "He is lucky to have you,"

I then blushed to myself as I gave him the diced ingredients, "Call down the kids and Qrow, dinner is almost ready," 

I nod and clean my hands, going upstairs to meet with Qrow and Ruby, "Dinner is almost ready," 

Qrow smiled to me and nods, "Alright, we will come down soon," 

I nod back and made my way to Yang's room, "Hey.." 

She looked at me sadly, "Hey," 

"Dinner is ready...would you like me to bring it to you?" I asked her softly. 

Yang sighs and nods, "Yes please," She looks out the window. 

"Okay, be right back," I said as I start to go downstairs, getting a tray with her food on the tray and a drink to go with. 

"I could get this for her Winter, you are our guest-" 

"I insist Mr. Xiao Long, it's the least I can do," I picked up the tray. 

"There is no use Tai; she won't turn down," Qrow smirked to me. 

I roll my eyes, "I'll be right back," I said as I walked upstairs again, going to her room as I set the tray down hovering her lap. 

Yang quietly said thank you and I left her alone. 

I go downstairs and to the table, my seat saved by Qrow as I started eating. He held my hand under the table, I smile to myself. 

Fiiinnnnaaalllllyyyy!!!! It's midnight but soooo worth it! Thank you guys for bearing with me. I also thank some people who gave me so much encouragement from the last message. Now, if you guys have not read THE question....
