Despite everything that had happened in the course of a few hours Allison was still a mystery to me. The closest the girl came to speaking was making high pitched noises in the back of her throat, and when she wasn't doing that she was just completely silent. It made me uneasy because I felt like she was always watching us, keeps tabs on us. Only when I sat down to speak with the girl did I realize that this wasn't the case.
"You have tons of shit in here." I said, shaking my head as I went through the girls bag. Claire and John were off somewhere. They were bickering the last time I saw them and it made me smile. As much as they wouldn't admit it they made good friends.
Allison spoke for the first time since I met her. "Yeah, well, I've got to be prepared." She said in response to my statement, shaking her head as she blew a piece of her hair out of her face. Brian leaned over to look down into her bag with me, wrinkling up his nose.
"Prepared for what?" He questioned, pulling out a sock from the bag. Allison glared and lunged across me to snatch the item out of his hands. She looked reluctant but answered Brian's question none the less.
"Prepared for anything. Who knows where I'm going to end up, I could go anywhere." She sounded confident when she spoke, holding her chin high. Brian thought it'd be a grand idea to ask her why she felt the need to go anywhere else in the first place and the girl visibly deflated.
"My home life is... unsatisfying." Was all Allison on the subject. Brian scoffed, rolling his eyes. "You'd subject yourself to the dangers of these Chicago streets because your home life is unsatisfying? That's a bit silly if you ask me."
Once again Allison got defensive. The rapid change in this girl's emotions was beginning to give me whiplash.
"I don't have to stay in Chicago." She said fiercely. I could go to the country, the mountains, Europe, Africa, Asia, anywhere." She finished. We were all silent for a moment and I stopped rummaging through her bag to speak.
"Is that your dream?" I asked, looking at the girl. She seemed like a deer caught in headlights. "To travel?" I elaborated. Allison shifted uncomfortably in her seat and after a moment she answered me.
"No..." she said slowly, "Its not. I just like to imagine I'm some place else sometimes. It helps."
"With the whole unsatisfying life thing?" I inquired. Allison nodded vigorously. I empathized with her because believe it or not I sort of got what she meant, as confusing as the girl could be. Sure, my problem and hers weren't exactly comparable, but the strong urge to just get up and flee from reality are feelings that I think we both have. I find myself daydreaming about something better, anything better, every chance I get, and I don't know if it's from the psychological damage I've taken over the years or if it's simply me wanting to get out of the place I'd been born in to explore. Probably both, if I'm being honest with myself.
"I think everyone's life is unsatisfying to a certain point." Andrew said, looking at me and Allison. He appeared thoughtful for a moment. "If it wasn't people would live with their parents forever." He said.
At that Allison looked offended and extremely pissed off. She yanked her bag from my hands and began to shove some of the things I'd taken out back in. Andrew looked confused, and to be blatantly honest I was too. I didn't really see anything wrong with what he said, he was right in a way. Something was always unsatisfying in someones life, no matter who they are.
"Never mind." She spat, coming to her feet. "Everything's cool." She got to her feet and left the area with Andrew chasing after her. I blinked rapidly. I wasn't really sure what was going on but I just went with it.
"That was a tad dramatic." I said absentmindedly, running a hand through my hair. Brian, who was besides me now, nodded in agreement. He said nothing more on the matter, instead focusing his attention on arranging things inside his wallet. I let out a heavy sigh, climbing to my feet and wandering off the find John.
When I spotted him I let a small smile form on my lips, walking over to where he sat across from Claire on the floor.
"Mind if I join you?" I asked when he glanced up at me. John grinned that trouble maker grin of his and patted the spot beside him. "Nope, I don't mind at all." He said. I took my spot next to him, leaning my back against the wall. Soon enough everyone else came to join, taking a seat on the floor until we formed a loose semi circle. No one spoke and I accepted the silence, leaning my head back on the wall and closing my eyes. The silence dragged on a few moments more before Claire decided to break it.
"What would you do for a million dollars?" She asked no one in particular. Andrew answered her with an amused grin on his face. "Anything." He said. Claire shook her head in disappointment.
"No no," she said, "The idea is to search your mind for, like, the absolute limit. Like would you drive to school naked?" She questioned. Andrew genuinely thought about it for a moment. "Would I have to get out of the car?" He asked. Claire nodded. "Of course." She said.
"Spring or winter?"
"Doesn't matter. Spring."
"In the front or back of the school?" Andrew asked. Claire rolled her eyes but answered nonetheless. "Either one." She said.
And then, without anymore hesitation, Andrew answered her with a simple, "Yes." We all laughed at the surprised expression Claire had painted on her face, but our smiles didn't last long.
"I'd do it." Allison said, brushing her bangs out of her face. "I'll do anything sexual and I don't need a million dollars to do it." She said confidently. My eyebrows shot up in surprise and Claire scoffed. "You're lying." She said, dismissing the girl's claims. I didn't say anything in interest of hearing Allison's response, turning my head and looking at the girl.
"I've already done a bunch of things." Allison said with a shrug. "With the exception of a few things that are illegal." And then, with a shit eating smirk, she said, "I'm a nymphomaniac." At that I let out a small scoff and Claire rolled her eyes.
"Lies." She said easily. I didn't say anything on the subject, but a very concerned Brian took it upon himself to bud in.
"Are your parents aware of this?" He asked, bewildered. Allison shook her head. "The only person I told was my shrink." She said. Andrew looked curious.
"What did he say when you told him?" Andrew asked. Allison gave a smug little grin. "He nailed me." She answered. At this point everyone knew Allison was lying. Well, everyone except for Claire. She was staring at Allison like she was completely bonkers, and I didn't exactly blame her. The things coming out of Allison's mouth were pretty crazy.
"I don't think what he did can be considered rape." Allison went on to say, "I mean, I paid him after all." At this Claire's eyes got extremely wide, the disgust showing clearly on her face now.
"He's an adult!" She exclaimed. Allison didn't seem phased. "Yeah," she confirmed, "He's married too."
I rolled my eyes and let out a heavy sigh. "You're a fucking liar." I spoke, casting my eyes on Allison. Her head snapped towards me. I continued to speak. "If you fucked your shrink then please, give us the details. Was he good in bed?" I mocked her, "Was it slow and sensual or was it fast and rough? Did you do it right there, in his office? Did he keep his wedding ring on, could you feel it every time his hand brushed against your skin?" Allison stared at me, her cheeks slowly filling with color. I know I'm being a tad bit intense, but this girl is a compulsive liar and that pisses me off to no end. Why anyone would lie about something like that, I have no clue. I assume she wants attention, so I'm more than prepared to give it to her.
"When you were done did he zip up and send you on your way or did you stay a little while longer? Have you guys ever been close to getting caught? Has his wife ever called right after you were done screwing?" I asked, not letting my eyes wander from hers. Allison's entire face was red now, and she fiddled with the hem of her shirt. She didn't answer me. I felt kind of bad once her eyes became down cast. Sure, the girl was a compulsive liar, but I didn't consider the fact that she might just have made that story up to fit in with us.
I felt guilty, but as the silence dragged on I couldn't bring myself to apologize to her.
"Sounds like you speak from experience." Came John's incredibly obnoxious voice. I forced a smile on my lips, shrugging my shoulders.
"More or less."

A.N.
First off let me apologize for this being late... AGAIN. I know, I'm sorry, but this time I wasn't just being lazy, I'm sick as a dog and have spent most of my time in bed sleeping.
