"Oh, look, Parker's back," someone above him said, in which startled him to the bones.
"Jesus, Sarah," Peter spontenously pressed a hand on his chest, where the heart is. "You frightened me."
Sarah chuckled at him. "Not the first time." She sounded like she was proud. "How's your training, bro?"
Peter rolled his eyes, doesn't want to be reminded the event. He hates it so much. "Fine. I just wish-" Peter stopped himself before he said something that shows him as a weakling. "What are you still doing here at midnight?"
"Oh, funny I was about to ask you the same thing," Sarah shrugged, where Peter gave him a look. "Please don't look at me like that. I'm not reading your mind."
Peter narrowed his eyes at Sarah. "How do I know you're not reading my mind? How do you prove it?"
"We made a deal, remember?"
"We did?" Sarah recoiled and looked at him questionably. "Oh, yeah, we did, we did," Peter quickly said when he remembers the day when he told Sarah she's not allowed to read his mind. He didn't think Sarah would take him seriously because looks like a person who loves to joke around. "But how do you know I'm up here?"
"That's by instinct," Sarah answered honestly. "Hey, anyway, I wanted to invite you to a party tomorrow. It's a good party. Everybody's going to be there. And you should too."
"Yeah, sure," Peter replied lazily. "I'm sure I'm going to have some fun." He was monotonous as he looked down the street. His hair ruffling in the wind. His face pale than it already is.
"You will, I promise. It's not just about drinking and dancing and some weird games."
For some reason, when it's about party, both of them have the same idea. Drunk teenagers, sweaty teenagers, smelly teenagers, wasting time, stupid dancing moves, pukes, open sex and stuff. With Flash kept on teasing him. Peter felt out of place. But still. Everytime there's a party, they'd come.
"Okay," Peter said flatly. Sitting at the edge of the building, he was gazing down the busy and bright city. For a second, he let the world pass between him and Sarah silently. He doesn't have much to say to Sarah. They've known each other quite long, but it was only because they're neighbours and they have PE class together. Other than those, they don't talk that much until recently. Yes, they know each other's secret, but that doesn't mean they are best friends now. Peter still has Ned.
So Peter ignored Sarah. He doesn't care if she cares. Sarah never showed him she cares. It was until one moment when realises something.
Yeaterday at the Avengers Facilities, he heard Jessica told her father about going to a party. He wonders if she's going to the same party. He wanted Sarah if she invited her, or if she invited Lottie if the party will be attended students from other school as well. Well, sometimes a party won't be fun unless there are students from another school. But it could bad either when you guys are enemies
"Hey, Sarah?" He turned, only to see that the roof top was empty. He sighed. Shrugged and ignored the fact that Sarah was being odd again. Well, Peter is friends with not only one but two weird friends now, isn't he?
Next day came after toss and turns on the bed. It was sunny outside, but Peter doesn't worry about being late to the roof. It's Saturday. Nobody has school on Saturday. And that means Lottie is not going to school too. And she's not going to the bakery on weekends sadly. Maybe because she usually wakes up late during weekend, or maybe she has another bakery to stop by at weekend. Peter doesn't know that.
Saturday also means he doesn't have training so Peter is safe today. He doesn't have to meet that evil daughter of Mr Stark. He admits he felt sinful for calling his mentor's daughter evil, but he cannot help it. He hates with all his limb and soul. He can't even look at her. But when he remembers that he's a secret spy for Mr Stark, his mood lifted up.
But today, instead of making Mr Stark's phone ringing, Peter decided to catch up with Ned.
When night came, Peter threw a t-shirt and jeans and some sweater. Inside, he's wearing his Spiderman suit, just in case. When he arrives at the house, the party has already started. People are everywhere with red cups. Some haa already getting light-headed. Peter doesn't know how they could manage that long.
He came to the party with Ned. While Ned look for some drink and begin to sit and watch people come and go, Peter went to have a tour around the house. That's when miracle happens. He meets Lottie at the top of the stairs.
