How It Started

Mal Point of View

I was studying some spells from my new Spell Book, which was supposed to have "good" ones, as Fairy Godmother burnt the one my mother gave to me a year ago.

I was still dating Ben, but the whole fact of becoming the queen and all the responsabilities caused me many headaches and stress, so I decided to slow down the relationship a bit. Of course I had always been living and sleeping at the school residence like the rest of the students.

I couldn't concentrate on what I was reading, so I closed the book and look up to see Evie sew a new dress. She just loved making clothes for everyone, even for Carlos' dog, Dude (she made them both matching clothes, too cute).

Even though she was so concentrated on sewing, she realised I was watching her, so she smiled at me. We didn't need words. We just could read each other's mind, answer at the same time, know how and what the other was feeling... friendship goals, right? Not everybody was lucky enough to have one of these. And that was the moment I realised I was SO lucky to have her in my life.

We met, of course, in the Isle of the Lost. My mother hated the Evil Queen, even more when she didn't send me the invitation to Evie's 6th birthday party. As I was the only uninvited kid, my mom sent her minions to lock both Evie and her mom inside an abandoned castle at an isolated corner of the isle. It wasn't until we were like 15 that Evie was allowed to change from homescholing to go to high school like the rest of us.

"Who is she?" I asked Jay and Carlos, who were my partners in crime. Evie was entering the classroom, looking for a sit.

"Don't you remember that blue hair? With a little tiara on her hair..?" Jay answered.

"Oh, yeah" Carlos added, "I forgot to tell you, I met her yesterday when she was filling the admission papers. I told her she could hang out with us".

"You did not..." I said, looking at him like I could kill him with only my gaze. Carlos raised his hand calling for her attention.

As Jay and Carlos sat next to each other, there was an empty one next to mine. Of course no one dare to sit there, people were scared of me because I always did mischiefs. I never imagined that she would.

"Hi, Carlos!" she said after sitting in the pupil next to mine, then she looked at Jay and me. "Hi, I'm Evie. You must be Jay, Carlos told me about you. And you... oh, you are the daughter of the woman who practically made me starve for almost 10 years".

"Yeah! You are that kid who didn't invite me to her birthdat party... not like you can compare the two situations, but well, that's what you get for messing with the most evil villain of them all"

"Fun fuct is, I did want to invite you, it was my mother who didn't. And yeah, missing a 4 hour party totally can compensate with 9 years of being locked in just a small territory of a huge isle" she said as she was looking at me with anger.

"Mm, I'm starting to like you" I really meant it. She was the only person who dared to look and speak to me with that tone.

"What if you don't? What will be next for me and my mom?"

"Break all the mirrors in the entire isle"

"Don't you dare!" she said.

"Prove me"

"Ok, Ok. I guess I'm starting liking you back" she responded immediately.
