I needed some time alone to connect with nature and forget a little bit about Mal hating over me. I felt safe in this place, and I knew that she wouldn't remember about here and Jay and Carlos didn't know about its existance.
Maybe if I call Ben, he can come here to give her that "true love kiss" and she could get back to normal. I thought. OMG, Ben!! As he hadn't been here, we didn't know if Mal remembered him. I felt kind of sorry for him, nobody of us give him a thought during this whole situation. In fact, everybody expected me to solve it.
After some hours of being hiding here, I heard noises coming from the trees behind me. I freaked out, and I suddenly remembered why I didn't like the forest that much.
"Who's there??" I screamed.
"Evie? Evie! It's us!" Carlos yelled as coming closer and getting more visible. Jay and Mal were following him behind.
"Mal was right, she told us that you must have been here"
"Really?" I asked. "But... she doesn't remember..."
"She doesn't, but she had a feeling" added Jay.
I looked at her, amazed about the fact that even with a curse on her, she still had the feeling of knowing where I could be.
"Whatever. No big deal" She said, rolling her eyes.
"Yeah, she still is.. the old Mal" Jay said.
"Not for long, if she knew that I was here, maybe we can still have hope of..."
"Can you please stop with that???" Mal cut me off. "I said it was no big deal, I just told them in case you were in a big trouble but that's it! So let. it. go." She said, and ran the way back to school.
"Guys, the reason I came here was because I couldn't stand Mal treating me like this, and I wanted to be alone. Sorry I didn't tell you."
"You know what? We would have never known that you weren't in school. Mal was obviously worried about you, so it was her who came to us and told us you were missing" said Carlos.
"Shut up..." I said.
"Yeap, believe ir or not, she still cares about you" Jay comforted me. "She never showed any sign of love to any of us, but you".
"I guess that you can't forget a true friendship easily" Carlos thought in a loud voice.
"True friendship... but, in order to have a true friendship you need... TRUE LOVE" I screamed. "Thank you, Carlos!!" I started to ran towards the dorm rooms.
I entered the room and saw Mal ready to get on bed. I got closer to her and grabbed her hands, she didn't push me back that time, but she looked like me as I were crazy.
"I love you, M. You have always been my sister since the day we sat next to each other on a first dat at school. And I know that you love me back, because not even the curse could stop you from being worried about me" I was in tears. "And true love is not always about the love relationship, you have shown me that the greatest love of all, is true friendship"
I didn't know if the true love kiss should always meant to be on the lips or not, so just in case, I kissed on her left cheeck but also touching slightly the corner of her lips. We were best friends, so a kiss like that wouldn't feel that uncomfortable to us.
I pushed back to see if it had worked, and Mal started to smile.
"Evie..." she hugged me so tight that I couldn't breathe for those seconds, but I didn't care, because my best friend was back.
She grabbed my face between her hands and rested her forehead against mine, our noses touching and our lips really close. It was common for us to do that.
"You are back" I was still in tears.
"Thanks to you, my Princess".
"Sorry that it took me that long"
"You don't have to apologise, E. You actually are the only one who could have broken that spell, because you are the one I love the most".
"Yeah, well, sorry that I almost kissed you on the lips, I didn't know if a cheeck kiss would have served for that"
"E, we have already kissed and almost made out that night we went to..."
"I know! But we were really drunk."
"Doesn't matter. Our friendship stayed the same, nothing changed after that, so an 'almost kiss' won't, either. Besides... you are really good at kissing". She made me blush after that comment.
We looked at each other in the eyes, we both knew we wanted to kiss. We started to get closer until a knock hit the door.
"Evie? Are you in there?"Jay asked from the other side.
"The boys!!!" Mal screamed with happiness. She went to open the door and hugged them both.
"How did you do that?" Carlos asked me.
"Well, true love kiss..." I said.
"Works every time" Mal and I said at the same time.
