It has been three years now, Gobi has been more present with Abed, but he gets frustrated when Abed doesn't want to reply. Malina and Gobi have been preparing Abed for preschool, they aren't sure how well he will be at making friends, but he is a great reader.
After supper one night, they put on the TV for Abed to watch. "Gobi, can I talk to you for a second?" Malina asked, Gobi nodded and they stepped outside. "I'm worried about Abed, I mean, he has been different from all the other children I have seen at the playgroup, or daycare, or even the park. He just seems so, distant, from them. Like he's in his own world." Malina explained. Gobi hadn't been around Abed as much, and he didn't exactly know the nature of most children, "I think it's just because he hasn't been around many other kids, after he begins preschool he will meet lots of new kids and have friends" Gobi said while laying a supportive hand on Malina's shoulder. Malina nodded and hugged Gobi. They headed back inside and found Abed, with his face right up against the TV screen. "Abed! That's bad for your eyes, here, you can sit back here with us" Malina said, picking up Abed and placing him on her lap while they sat on the couch.
Gobi and Malina decided to watch a family friendly movie with Abed, although Gobi was reluctant. He didn't want Abed exposed to too much television, putting ideas in Abed's head. After a while of sitting on Malina's lap, Abed began to squirm around and stepped down from the couch, regaining his balance. He began to walk towards the TV screen when he tripped on his own feet, knocking over a hot cup of coffee sitting on the coffee table. "Uh oh" Abed said quietly, before continuing walking towards the TV screen. Gobi got up and looked at the coffee stain on the once clean carpet. "Abed! Look what you've done! You just ruined the carpet!" Gobi said, raising his voice, but Abed continued watching the TV. Malina, stood up quickly, "Gobi, please, it was an accident okay? We can fix this, just don't blame Abed for this, he's only three years old" Malina tried to calm Gobi's nerves. "How long before he starts taking blame for things he does!" Gobi snapped back at Malina, who was getting some rags and soap to clean up the mess. "He's just a child Gobi!" Malina yelled back at him, bending down to clean the carpet. "Yeah, but someday he won't, and he needs to be disciplined!" Gobi continued making his point. "How come you were nice about him before" Malina said calmly, trying to cool down. "What do you mean?" Gobi questioned in a confused but angry voice. "When I was worried about Abed starting preschool and you were being supportive!" She responded, raising her voice once again. "Well I guess I was wrong, he obviously isn't ready! I mean just look at him glued to the screen!" Gobi yelled, gesturing to the TV, only to realize that Abed was gone.
😁
I know this is a short chapter, but I usually do short chapters. I tried to end this chapter on a bit of a cliff hanger. This chapter had some drama, and the future chapters will see more Abed drama rather than parent drama, but because Abed is so young, it just isn't time yet. But anyways, make sure you vote if you liked it and keep reading my story! Thanks for reading!
