Malina held her newborn child in her arms lovingly. Her husband, Gobi, was not present, he was too busy working at his falafel restaurant to show up. "I wonder what I should name him" she thought, as she gently stroked the baby's tiny little hands. She had been coming up with names over the past few weeks, she had many different ideas, but one that always returned was the name Abed. "Abed" she whispered a couple of times to hear how it sounded out loud. After a while Malina had decided, Abed was the perfect name for her little bundle of joy.

{THE NEXT DAY}

Malina carried Abed in a soft blanket, waiting for Gobi to come with the car to pick her up. The car pulled up next to her and she happily got in the passenger seat, full of love for her newest creation. Gobi's face did not look as pleased, he never wanted to have children. "Gobi, don't you want to see your new son? His name is Abed" she said while leaning closer to Gobi, revealing Abed from under the blanket swaddling him. Gobi smiled slightly, but it was obvious he was not as happy to have this child as Malina was. "I know this isn't what you wanted, but trust me, over time you will grow to love him as much as I do" she said in a reassuring voice. "I don't want to be a father, I am not ready for it", Gobi admitted, beginning to drive towards their home. They rode in silence, as Malina stroked Abed's head, gazing into his curious, dark brown eyes.

{ONE MONTH LATER}

Loud cries came from Abed's room, disrupting Malina and Gobis' sleep. Malina sighed and dragged herself out of bed for the third time this night. Entering Abed's room quietly, she leaned over the crib. Abed was laying in the crib, crying for his mother. He looked up as Malina picked him up and held him in her arms, rocking him back in forth, singing a Polish song that her mother used to sing to her. The crying began to subside, as he let out little baby sighs and closed his teary eyes, drifting off to sleep again. Malina smiled, he cried a lot, but it was easy to get him to stop. She kissed Abed's soft little head and laid him back down in the crib, heading back to bed. Malina lifted the covers and laid on her side, "This is why I never wanted to have children", Gobi said quietly, clearly irritated with Abed. "I know it's annoying now, but once Abed grows up even a little, things will get better" Malina replied, all she wanted was for Gobi to appreciate the baby. She was scared about what Gobi would be like around Abed once he grew older, would his attitude still be this way?
