Chapter 4

I didnt know what it was. All i knew was that if burned me. Every time i touched it, my hand would burn. I think its herb of something but i dont know what type it is. I Texted carter to see if he might know what it is.

Me: hey

Carter: hey whats up?

Me: Can you come over

Carter: Hahah cant go an hour with out me ;)

Me: No i can its just i need you to look at something

Carter: Ok Where do you live.

Me: Near the school. It on a small street, its called Rusic View. Im the last house.

Carter: Hey i just moved down the street.Ill be there in a sec.

Me: ok then .

I hear a knock at the door and i think its carter but its payton. I let her in.

"hey Payton do you know what this is." I said motioning towards the box. She looks inside and picks up the herb.It dosnt bother her. Maybe it only bothers my kind. I hear the door bell ring and walk towards it. Its carter this time.

"Hey jessica" he said smilling

"here look at this." i said pointing to the herb

He touched it and he screamed. I looked over and see his hand is burned like mine is.

"omg you guys are burned." Payton said running to the bathrooom to get a first ade kit.

"You." Carter said.

"Me? what about me" I asked

"You..... are......like.......me" he said stuttering in between words.

"What are you then. maybe we are alike."

"Were shadows."

"What are shadows?" Payton asked.

"Nothing, story for another time."

"Lets watch a moive." carter said trying to change the topic.

we soon all fall asleep watching Scary Moive.

--The Next Day--

Carter: Lets talk tommrow at the water fall. ill pick you up at 2.

I just text back a simple ok. I was visting Tessa today at the hospital.

I get in the car and start to drive there. Im a good driver i mean im 17 i have to be good. I just listen to music on the way there. All time low was blasting through the speakers. When i get to the hostpital i walk in and smell the cleaness. I walk into the hostpital and asked if a Tessa Greene was there and she tells me to walk down the hall and go into room 213. I find the room and walk in. i see tessa laying down on the bed. She looks fine. Shes up and i say hi.

"Hey you came." She said.

"you know i would."

"Tessa Who attacked you."

"A hunter. They were looking for you?"

"Why where they looking for me?"

"Your the most powerful there is"

"I thought Shane was?" Shane was the strongest there was of the sadows.

"He died."

"So we really got to watch our backs." i said

"Tessa someone sent me something and it had a note saying i know what you are and it had this herb in it that burned only people like us."

"Must be hunters." she said.

"When are you getting out of here." i said.

"In two days." She said in a happy tone.

"Carters one of us."

"what." She said.

"Ya the herb affected him." i said

"So how many of us are out there?" I asked

"10.. well now 11."

"To think only 11 of us left in the world.... and im the most powerful of them all." i said sounding scared.

" Ya i know "

Just then the lights went out.

"Whats going on." Tessa said with her voice shaking.

I look over and her machines are still woring the lights are just out. I walk out into the hall and see that the lights are out every where. I walk back into the room and locked the door.

"Tessa we have to stay calm."

"Jessica i know your here." Said a voice in the hall

"Jessica Taylor. You here." said the same voice.

"Tessa act dead and like your dont have powers." she did as she was told and i crawled under the bed.

I soon put a sheld around is to mask who we reall are.

"Jessica" the same voice said.

I started to hear the door handle rattle. Then someone came.

"Jessica Taylor come on we only want your powers." a new voice rang into my ear.

after i heard that i felt a cold hand on my arm.

Sorry if its kinda short. Im planning to write shorter chapters but update more.

Also i wanted to clear up that Jessica is 17 and is a senior in high school. She also has brown hair that had blond at the ends.
