4 hours later
The show had just ended, and luckily, you and Jerome had enough time to clean up the mess Amanda left behind. You guys put her body on the hill with your dad and Lila.
You both heard about the little fight between Owen Lloyd and Alphonse Grayson. Those two always got into fights, but during a show! Now that would definitely be worth the $15 the tickets cost.
You and Jerome were talking when there was a knocking on the door. You and Jerome looked at each other, confused. You both went to the door, and stuck your heads out.
There was a man with blonde hair, a woman with raven hair, and the ringmaster. "GCPD. We need to speak with Lila." The man with the blonde hair said. You looked at him and realized it was Jim Gordon. Jerome grabbed his jacket and stepped out of the trailer. "She's not here. Why? Has something happened?" He asked. You stayed in the doorway.
"Where is she?" Jim asked. Do they always ask these many questions? "Uh, I don't know." He put his jacket on. "She was supposed to be home ages ago."
"You a relative?" He asked. "I'm her son, Jerome." He said. Jim nodded towards you. "What about her?" He asked. Jerome looked towards you, and motioned for you to come out. You walked over and stood with Jerome. He put his arm around you. "I'm Y/N, Jerome's girlfriend." You smiled. Gordon nodded.
"Jerome, when did you last see her?" Gordon asked. Jerome pretended to think for a minute. "This morning. She was here when we left for the library." Jerome said. "We?" Jim asked. Jerome nodded. "Yes. Me and him!" You exclaimed. Jim nodded warily.
The ringmaster stepped up to Jerome. "Relax Jerome. This man is just here because Owen and Al had a disagreement." Jerome slowly turned to look at him. "Your mother's fine. Gone on a spree no doubt." You gave the man a dirty look. "You know how she is." The ringmaster tried to comfort Jerome.
"A spree? Without her hat? Her coat? Or her purse?" He pointed out, looking back to the cop. He backed up towards the cage holding the snake. "Look at Sheeba." He touched the cage were the snake was moving around a lot. You furrowed your eyebrows. The snake is usually very calm. "She's distraught. She knows something's wrong." He pointed out. You looked at Jim and saw that he was uncomfortable. Must be the snake, the voice said. You silently giggle to yourself. The thought of a cop being scared of a snake amused you.
"The snake does seem to be agitated." He agreed. You smiled. Maybe you did have him fooled. "Sir!" The ringmaster exclaimed. "She's what you call a 'party girl.'" You looked at Jerome and saw him roll his eyes. "Back in the morning with her knickers in a handbag. Sure as eggs." Jim looked at the ringmaster. "But she didn't take her handbag, did she?" He pointed out.
"How fast does an animal like that move?" Jim asked. "Uh," Jerome thought for a minute. You had to admit, he was doing a good job at acting like he was innocent. This isn't his first time in the rodeo, the voice pointed out. "Fast walking pace. They rely on surprise mainly." He informed.
"Let her out." Jim said, straight faced. Jerome looked surprised. "I'm sorry?" He asked. Your eyes were wide. "Let her out." He demanded. He was starting to act like a douche.
Jerome nodded and did as was told. You stepped back while he took Sheeba out of the cage. The snake never did really like you.
The snake began to head the opposite way of the hill, which made you and Jerome look at each other, confused. He walked up with the ringmaster and Jim, while you stayed back with the raven haired lady.
You had to admit, she was pretty. Her tan skin and dark hair made her look very young. "Hi!" You exclaimed. "I'm Y/N Y/L/N." You introduced yourself. The woman smiled at you. "I'm Leslie Thompkins, but call me Lee." She said. You nodded.
"That man," you said pointing to Jim. "Is he your husband?" You asked. She chuckled and shook her head. "Jim? No. He's my boyfriend, per say, but we also work with each other. He's a detective and I'm a medical examiner at the GCPD." She said. You nodded. "That's actually kinda cute." You thought aloud. She laughed. "Yes. My own little fairy tail. James Gordon and Leslie Thompkins. The perfect couple." She joked and you giggled.
You guys continued to chat, until the snake led you guys to cart that the circus used for hay for the horses. The snake slithered under the tarp covering the cart. Jim walked up, grabbed the tarp, and pulled it off of the cart, revealing Lila's, your dad's, and Amanda's dead bodies. You heard gasps and your eyes widened in shock. How did they get here!? "Oh my god." Leslie said.
You were knocked out of your thoughts when Jerome fell to his knees, and began to cry. You and Leslie rushed over to him, you forcing fake tears. "J-J." You cried. "Who did this?" You cried into his shoulder. Leslie rubbed your guys's shoulders.
You herd Jim and the ringmaster arguing. You looked up at them. "You knew." Jim accused. "You knew they were here." The ringmaster looked down. "No!" He exclaimed, obviously lying. You rolled your eyes. "Look at me." Jim said. The ringmaster looked up and sighed. "They were like that when we found them." He said. You jumped up and ran to them, continuing to pretend to be sad.
"You knew!" You jabbed your finger into his chest. "You knew our parents were dead? And you said nothing?" You broke down, falling to your knees. Jerome crawled over to you and took you into his arms. You rapped your arms around his neck. You heard Jim tell the ringmaster to show him where they found the bodies.
You and Jerome were instructed to go wait there while they waited for backup to come. Great, you thought. More time with the police man.
