Elizabeth looked at the man's crazed appearance. His clothes had blood on them and his shirt was wrinkled and untucked. His face had blood on it, like if blood was spewed back on him. And his right hand were red and had blood dripping off it. His glasses were stained with random blood drops.
Elizabeth didn't hear Angelina anymore and she could only assume the worse. And now this man was here to finish her off. As he started towards her, Elizabeth closed her eyes and waited for the pain. She made her peace with death a long time ago and had no fear for what was to come.
But the man acted as if she wasn't even there.
He went directly to the sink, turned it on, and started scrubbing at his hands. "I didn't mean to. I didn't mean to." Elizabeth could barely understand him with his thick Brooklyn accent. The water turned pink as the blood left his hands, but the man kept scrubbing even after all the blood was gone. "I didn't mean to." He kept saying.
Elizabeth heard that line so many times from her abusive ex-boyfriends. They say they didn't mean to, it was all her fault, she provoked him, but they really did mean what they did. They were all too much of a coward to admit it.
"What did you do?" Elizabeth asked him. He ignored her. He looked up at himself in the mirror and immediately pulled off his glasses. He ran them under the water and scrubbed at the lens. Elizabeth could see smoke rising from how hot the water was, but the man didn't move or act bothered by the heat. Elizabeth could feel the air starting to get hotter and all she wanted was to step out of the room, but the man's mental breakdown kept her still.
"Well. That's new." The Beast told Patricia as they watched Dennis clean his hands. The Beast awoke when he felt the fear radiating through the body. He lowered the barrier to see Dennis's hands covered in blood and the girl at his feet. Patricia kept the others at bay as she looked alongside the Beast at the destruction Dennis caused.
"Oh my." Patricia said breathlessly. She couldn't believe what she was seeing. Dennis had never done this before. He had never been violent to anyone. He was a calm, good mannered man who didn't like to be dirty. But what he did.... it was almost like a different personality.
"What did you do?" The girl asked again.
"Perhaps you should take over," Patricia told the Beast, "before he snaps again." The Beast agreed and spoke to Dennis. He turned off the water and and left the bathroom without a word.
Elizabeth heard the key turn in the lock and she knew there was no way to try and get out. She put her ear to the door and heard what sounded like bones popping and moans of pain.
They stopped after a few moments and the sound of the door unlocking followed soon after. The man stepped in the middle of the open door frame, but he seemed almost different."Who are you?" Elizabeth asked, the words unwillingness falling out of her mouth.
This man was the same one as before, but there were differences between this man and the one from before. This man had no shirt on and he was more muscular than the other man. His veins stuck out prominently on his chest and arms, like his skin had to stretch to support such strength. He had no glasses and his shoes had been removed too. Overall, Elizabeth thought he was incredibly hot. Which she knew wasn't normal, but didn't care.
"You're smart." He said in a deep voice. "What's a smart pure like you doing with such an impure girl?" Elizabeth didn't understand what made her pure in his eyes, but thought it wise to answer his questions.
"She offered to buy me pot. Didn't want to be rude and refuse." He found humor in her response, how brutally honest she was.
"Pot? A habit to take the pain away?" He asked her, looking down at the scar across her throat. Elizabeth traced her pointer finger across the scar and nodded.
"It helps. For a while anyway." The Beast had heard of Kevin's experimentation with marijuana, but he had never felt the release like the others had.
"You're free to go. Someone will be by later to blindfold you and take you somewhere far away from here. No harm will come to you, I promise." The Beast made a move to close the door when Elizabeth blocked it with her foot.
"Are you kidding me? After all this, you're just letting me go? What's wrong with me?" The Beast was at a lost for words. He gave her back her freedom, but she wad refusing it.
"Nothing is wrong with you. You are pure and we don't hurt the pure. Your friend, on the other hand, will not be joining you." The next four words Elizabeth spoke gave the Beast a strong sense of deja vu of when he and Casey were making arrangements to leave the Zoo. He asked to move the bodies of her friends and she corrected him. Just like Elizabeth did. Almost the exact same way.
"She's not my friend." The Beast felt the pain surge through his body and he had to clench a fist to keep him from leaning against the door frame.
"Fine. You can leave and your... not friend can stay behind." Elizabeth knew she shouldn't be arguing against going free, but the stubborn fighter in her wouldn't let the issue go.
"Why can't I stay? Why am I pure?" The Beast tightened his fist and wondered if she was trying to piss him off.
"I offer you your freedom and you want to stay here?"
Elizabeth shrugged. "I don't know. But I have a feeling you need me. I can be of service to you. In more ways than one." She gave him a small wink and that was enough to push the Beast to his breaking point.
In a few seconds he managed to close the space between them and grabbed Elizabeth by her black hair. He dragged her out of the bathroom and right over to Angelina's body.
"This is what happens when you use your sexuality to express yourself. This is what happens to girls who flaunt their bodies to get what they want. LOOK AT WHAT REMAINS OF YOUR FRIEND!!" The Beast shouted at Elizabeth as he dangled her head over Angelina's body.
Her face was completely swollen. Her eyes were swollen shut and blood ran down her face from her broken nose. There were bruises beginning to form and welts from Dennis' fist were bubbling up on her face. Her breathing was labored, but she kept on breathing. She looked nothing like the girl who entered the holding cage. She was stripped of the one thing she held above all else: her beauty.
"I'm sorry, I'm so sorry." Elizabeth cried. The Beast assumed she was talking to her friend so he moved her away from the girl's body and let go of her hair. He was too harsh on her. He lost his temper over nothing. But he didn't want to think about any girl like that because none of them were Casey.
Elizabeth crawled over to where the Beast stood and looked up at him. "I'm so sorry. I deserve to be punished. Do whatever you think is best." The Beast was definitely confused by this girl's actions. She was apologizing to him. And wad willing to take a beating for it. This girl was completely messed up. And he liked it.
"There, there, girl. No need for that." He bent down and lifted her chin with his finger so she was looking him right in the face. "I think we're going to keep you around after all." He told her, a wicked smile beginning to form on his face.
