The rest of the week went by with nothing outstanding happening. A few times Dean walked Cas to the door, but he didn't go in with him. Instead they just gave each other a kiss. Cas was always disappointed that  they were now taking things so slow, but he always remained hopeful. Around four on Saturday Cas got a phone call from Dean asking if he was almost ready for the Christmas party.
"I thought that didn't start until around seven tonight?" Cas asked.
"I know, but the food there is always atrocious so I was wanting to take you out to eat at that new steak house before going. Unless you don't want to." Dean replied.
"No give me a few minutes, and I'll be ready to go." After he got off the phone he ran to Gabriel's room. When Gabriel answered Cas said, "you have to help me look good tonight. Dean's taking me out to eat before the Christmas party."
Gabriel smiled and went to his closet. He pulled out a brand new suit and tie then handed it to Cas. "Don't worry it will fit you. Sam helped me pick that out for you the other day. I figured you would need something different than that ratty thing you always wear. I'm not sure what to do with your hair except shave it all off though."
Cas tried to imagine himself with no hair, and he didn't like the image. "No thanks I think I'll keep my messy hair, but thanks for the suit."
Soon after Cas had gotten dressed Dean knocked at the door. When Cas answered Dean smiled as he stared at him. He had never seen Cas look so good before, and he knew it was all for him. Dean pulled him close and kissed his lips gently. "You look great tonight Cas." Dean whispered as he moved back from Cas.
"You look good too Dean." Cas replied. Dean held out his hand for Cas to hold, and as they walked to the car Cas couldn't help but wonderhow he got so lucky as to be going on a date with his crush. Dean opened his door for him, and gave him a kiss before going to the drivers side.
The dinner was exquisite, and expensive. Cas tried to insist on paying for some of it, but Dean wouldn't have it. "I'm the one that asked you here. You can plan and pay for our next date if you want Cas." Dean said.
When they got to the party everyone was already gossiping about everyone else to anyone that would listen. "I have a few people I need to talk to real quick and I'll come back to you again ok. You can sit up at the bar and wait for me if you like. It's all free for the party." Dean told Cas, and then he disappeared in the crowd. Cas went up to the bar, and ordered a beer. He wasn't wanting to drink too much, because he knew if he got drunk he wouldn't be able to do much of anything.
As he was sipping on his beer he looked over at a group of women, and he saw Bella in the middle of them with her arms around Dean. Tears started rolling down his cheeks as he watched her lean against his date.
"Can I get you anything else?" The bartender asked.
"Yeah, I want a double shot of whiskey. Just keep them coming until I pass out if you don't mind." Cas replied.
The bartender shrugged, and she grabbed a bottle whiskey. She grabbed two glasses, and poured some whiskey in both. "One's for you the other is for me. Now tell me what makes you want to drink yourself to death tonight?" She said.
Cas downed the drink. "I have had a crush on my next door neighbor for years now. Well on this past Monday I finally made my move, and probably if it wasn't for our brothers we probably would have had sex. Now on our only date since that episode I caught my date letting an ex girlfriend of his wrap her arms around him. Does that let me get more whiskey?"
The bartender passed the bottle over to Cas. "Honey you can have whatever you need to down away those sorrows. Who's this guy that has you so smitten if you don't mind my asking?" She said.
Cas sucked down some of the whiskey, then wiped his mouth. "It's Dean, Dean Winchester."
"I can see why you have a crush on him. Pretty much every woman does."
"Yeah, but I was foolish in thinking he would like me." Cas replied, then he brought the bottle to his lips again.
By the time Dean finally got back to him Cas had already finished the first bottle and had startedin a second. "It'sss about time you got basch." Cas slurred.
"Geese Jo how much whiskey did you give him?" Dean asked as he quickly grabbed Cas before he fell off the stool.
"About a bottle and a half," she said with a shrug.
"Why the hell did you do that?"
"He was depressed so I helped him get over it."
Cas just sat there silently trying his best not to lose his lunch. He wanted Dean to let him go, yet at the same time he wanted him to hold him closer. "I'm not feeling ssoo hot Dean." Cas said right before he puked all over him.
Dean tried to clean up as much as he could, then he helped Cas out to the car. As Cas climbed in Dean said, "please whatever you do don't puke in baby." Then he climbed in and drove Cas home. When they pulled up in the driveway, Dean turned to him and asked, "What happened Cas?  Is it because I wanted to talk to a few people alone for a bit? I mean if that bothered you so much you could have joined me."
"Don't pretend you don't know Dean. I saw Bella all over you there. What are you still screwing her, is that why nothing has happened with our relationship?" Cas blurted out.
Dean looked at the floorboard for a bit, then when he looked back at Cas there were tears in his eyes. "Cas I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to let her do that, but she wanted me to talk to a few friends of hers and she just out her arms around me. Cas she means nothing to me. You're the one I want. I haven't made a move on you yet because I just don't want things to go too fast. I love you Cas. Please forgive me. Please!"
Cas leaned over and put his head on Dean's shoulder. "Ok, I believe. I think I need to go to bed though. Can you help me into the house?"
Dean nodded, and got out of the car. Tears were still running down his face as he walked Cas to the door. He kissed him on the cheek, then walked back to his car. Cas leaned on the door for a bit and cried as he watched Dean drive away. Cas opened the door, then hollered for Gabe. He helped Cas to his bed, and much to Cas' satisfaction he didn't ask him any questions about his date.
The next day Cas saw that Dean had sent him several messages, and then when he got no reply he started sending a message every hour in the hour asking how Cas was doing.
Finally at midnight Dean sent him one last message. It read: Cas I'm going to go to bed now, but I'll see you in the morning when I pick you up for work. I hope to talk to you then about the other night. Also Sam wanted to know if we were still having our New Years eve party like we usually do?
Cas quickly sent back a reply that said: goodnight Dean. And tell Sam yes we are having the party.
