Dean spent the night again with Cas, but this time he had went by the house to get clothes first. He woke up early in the morning, and had already showered and dressed by the time Cas woke up.
When Cas got done getting dressed he went downstairs to find Dean. Dean was in the kitchen, finishing up some pancakes and Gabe was sitting on the sink eating them. "You know we have a perfectly good table over here to eat at Gabe." Cas said, with a smile on his face.
"It hasn't been properly disinfected yet." He replied.
Cas and Dean ate breakfast, then Cas went to go look at himself in the mirror out of habit again. He was running his fingers through his hair, as Dean walked up behind him and wrapped his arms around him. Dean stared into the mirror and said, "I could stand here looking at you all day."
Cas turned around, and gave Dean a quick kiss. Dean smiled and said, "I love you Cas. We were always meant to be together." Like usual they were quiet on the way to work, but Cas just kept thinking about how the last few days had been the best days of his life. He was finally happy that he had the man of his dreams, and nothing was going to stop it.
When they got to work Bella was waiting for them. Dean got out of the car and she said, "can I talk to privately for a moment?"
"Yeah. I'll see later for lunch Cas." Dean replied. After he was gone, he turned back to Bella. "What do you want now Bella?"
"I can't believe you left me to go off and get with a man. I saw you two all over each other at the movies yesterday."
"So what if we were Bella. It's not like you're going to change my mind or anything. I've already moved on from you now if you'll excuse me."
Dean started walking off when Bella called out, "I wonder what everyone in the office is going to say when their favorite manager is gay with the new guy. It will be fun spreading around this juicy bit of gossip."
Dean stopped dead in his tracks. "You wouldn't dare."
"Of course I would." She replied. She walked in front of him, and made her look at her.
Dean sighed. "What do you want me to do?"
"I want you to go up there, and tell him you don't want him anymore. Make him hurt like you did me."
"I can't do that to Cas." Dean replied.
"Well it's either that, or this little town will know about you being gay. Do you really want everyone to find out this way?"
Dean sighed. Cas would never forgive him if he did this, but then again did he want the whole town to learn about his life like this? He went upstairs finally, and went to Cas' desk. He came up to him and said, "Cas I don't think we can see each other anymore."
"What? Why? I mean Dean you seemed so..., is it Bella. Do you want her or something?" Cas asked dumbfounded.
"I want someone I won't be afraid to be seen with. If that means Bella then yeah I'll be with her, but I don't need everyone talking about me being with a guy." Dean choked out.
"Fine, I'm done with you too." Cas got up, and ran down the hall to the elevators and disappeared from sight.
Dean slumped down in Cas' chair, and hung his head. A minute or two later Dean's boss came walking up to the desk. "Can I see you in my office for a while Dean?"
Dean got up and walked with him. Once in the office Dean's boss gestured for him to sit down. Once he sat down, his boss pulled up a chair and said, "ok would you like to explain what just happened between you and your boyfriend to majestic him run out like that?"
"My what?" Dean asked.
"Your boyfriend. You and Cas are dating aren't you?"
Dean shook his head. "We were, but I broke up with him. How did you know I was dating him anyway?"
"It's not like you guys were very subtle about it or anything. I mean almost anyone can hear you talk at those desks, and I heard tell that you were overheard asking him to watch you change in the bathroom. I mean you are always around him, and you also took him with you to the Christmas party. Everyone just assumed you two were a couple. Did he do something to make you end it? Do you need time off to recuperate or something?" His boss asked.
"No. He didn't do anything I was just being stupid. Things were just changing more in my life than I thought I wanted, and I was wrong to hurt him like I did." Dean replied. He started to cry then, and just couldn't stop for a while.
His boss held out some tissues, and patted him in the shoulder. "If you need time off to get yourself together I'll let you have a couple days. I need my best man in top shape. Maybe while you're off you can fix things with your boyfriend. I've never seen you happier than when you two were together."
"Yeah I'll try to. I doubt he'll take me back though. Thanks anyway man. I appreciate the time off." Dean said as he got up to leave.
"Don't mention it. Oh and one more thing. Tell your boyfriend his job will be waiting for him when he wants it back. He was a very thorough secretary. I've never seen anyone work half as hard as he did here."
Dean nodded, and headed out the door. On his way out, he pulled out his phone and dialed Cas' number. When the voicemail box came up, he left a quick message. After that he sent him a text telling Cas to call him back as soon as he could. He also tried repeatedly calling Gabriel to no avail. Finally when he called Sam he got an answer.
"What do you want Dean?" Sam asked.
"I need to talk to Cas. Is he with you? "
"No. We just dropped him off at someone's house. We're heading back to Gabe's now. What the hell did you do to him Dean? He's a royal mess."
"I don't have time to go into detail Sammy, you have to tell me where you dropped him off at."
"Can't do. I'm under strict orders to keep you as far away from him as possible." Sam replied.
"Sammy please. I need to talk to him, and he's not answering his phone. Please you have to help me."
"I can't Dean. I wish I could, but I can't. I think maybe it's just time you let him go."
Gabriel grabbed the phone from Sam then and said, "listen here asshat, you hurt my older brother. I thought that you would actually be good for him, and I tried to like you especially cause you're my best friends brother but now I see why I can't stand you. You're scum. Leave my brother alone, he's with someone that really cares about him now." Gabe hung up the phone after that, so Dean didn't have a chance to reply.
