Kim-
I held Troy, my new born in my arms and frowned. I was 16 and not ready for a child. "Put him up for adoption, I don't want it." I said.
They took him and put him in the adoption center.

Lance-
I was walking around the adoption store and saw a child that caught my eyes. He would be a strong worker. I adopted him and let the House nurse raise him. As soon as he was able to walk, I put his wrists and ankles in shackles and chains, and put a shock collar around his neck. I put him into the clothes I had everyone wear.
He worked in the field like everyone else I had illegally enslaved.

Charlie-
Troy was only a kid. I sighed and decided I would make friends with him. He was a shy kid, but he was a little genius. "Good night slaves!" Old man Lance shouted.
He had tied us to the columns and left us there. I was beside Troy. "So, where are you from?" I asked in a whisper.
He looked at me with those pretty blue eyes he had. "Me? Oh, I'm from Dallas, Texas." I said.
"I'm from San Antonio, Texas." Troy said.
"My name is Charlie, and you're Troy right?" I asked.
He nodded. "That's my name." He said.
"Well Troy, as soon as I turn eighteen...I promise we'll be out of here." I said.
He smiled. Lance came to us in the morning and dragged us out to the fields to whip us. He also branded us with the same mark he put on his cows.
Luckily when Troy turned five I was eighteen. I saved him and the other young kids there. I enrolled them in school and got two full time jobs at the hospital as a Head of Trauma Surgery and Head of Shift Doctor. I brought in the big money and my girlfriend Annie helped me raise and school them. I sat on the couch with Troy and we'd watch some cool shows on TV like Power Rangers and Ben 10.
"I bet one of these days you'll be just like that." I said.
  "A superhero?" Troy asked.
"Exactly, you just have to work extra hard and prove everyone wrong because of your skin color. It may be a new world, but there is still racism and sexism. It's worse now...there may be no slavery and women may be equal, but there are people out there like Lance and they are bad." I said.
Troy smiled. "Thank you for being my friend and brother." Troy said hugging me.
Middle school came and I was worried. "You got this!" I said to Troy and waved him off after I dropped him off.
He came home with a huge smile on his face. "I am the captain of the Chess team and the school mascot." Troy said.
"Good for you Troy. Hey, promise me something okay?" I asked.
  "Anything." Troy said.
"If someone makes fun of you, or pushes you around...end it before it starts and walk away." I said.
  Troy nodded.

  Troy-
Charlie was right, I had loads of bullies. I got shoved into lockers, wedgies, wet willies, and swirly's from bullies. One day, a girl came and she asked me to go on a date with her.
I gladly accepted. We went to see a movie and eat diner. It was great.
Especially sharing a smart conversation and being together. We sat at lunch together with her friends and they all accepted me even though I was a total geek.
It was nice, there were girls and guys at that table...but mostly girls. We watched Annie's together and we watched cartoons together. We even had a book club. That's when I found out that I could really sing. I joined choir and became a choir kid.
Everything was so good. Then high school came. Me and that girl, yeah we didn't last. When I was in the science labs, I blew stuff up. I landed a spot in detention everyday after school. My choir teacher still allowed me on choir because he enjoyed my company. There were other kids in there too. I just kept to myself though.
