Abel

I wake up to the sound of gurgling noises from beside me.

When my eyes open, a smile spreads across my lips as I take in the sight of Rosalina and our daughter, Cherish.

Rosalina smiles at me when she notices I'm awake. "Look, daddy's awake," she cooes to Cherish.

Propping myself up on my elbow, I lean forward and kiss Rosalina on the cheek before turning to look at my daughter.

I hold out my arms to her and she leans forward, wanting to come to me.

Grinning, I scoop up Cherish from Rosalina's hands and kiss her cheek over and over again,  causing adorable little squeals to leave her mouth.

"Good morning, my little pumpkin," I say softly, stroking her cheek.

"She looks just like you," Rosalina comments from beside me and I twist my head to look at her, smiling. She moves closer towards me, kisses my shoulder and rests her head on it. "She has your nose."

"She has your eyes," I say.

Rosalina pulls away from my shoulder to look at me, narrowing her eyes. "She has none of my features, Abel," she says sadly and I bite my tongue.

"You just don't see what I see," I tell Rosalina before leaning in and pecking her lips gently.

Rosalina smiles at me and kisses my shoulder again, wrapping her arms around my neck and smiling at our daughter.

My head twists back to look at Cherish when I feel my chain being tugged at. Her little fingers are wrapped around the silver cross and she stares at it in awe, completely mesmerized by the piece of jewellery.

Just as she's about to put it in her mouth, I quickly take it out her hand carefully.

I take off the chain and place it on the space beside me, Cherish's eyes following my movements the whole time.

"I need to blow off some steam," Rosalina sniffs from beside me.

I turn to look at my beautiful wife, who moves away from my shoulder and leans back against the headboard. She opens up her arms to Cherish, who immediately goes to her Mum.

I watch my two girls lovingly as Rosalina places a kiss on the tip of Cherish's nose, who smiles adorably at her Mum.

Leaning back against the headboard, I start ruffling Cherish's hair. "I know something else you can blow," I tell Rosalina with a hint of a smirk.

She turns to look at me, shooting me a disapproved look. "Abel!" she snaps quietly. "Don't talk like that in front of our daughter!"

"As if she understands!" I scoff and Rosalina rolls her eyes, turning her attention back to Cherish. "Want to go out tonight?"

"I thought you'd never ask," Rosalina mutters and then she turns to grin at me, biting down on her lip. "The usual place?"

I nod and run a finger down her cheek and then over her lips. "Let's have some fun," I tell her and she chuckles darkly.
