I frowned as I watched Rick storm out of the building, leaving the baby and Carl in a cell. Beth was holding the baby, rocking her back and as she slowly fell asleep. She was completely oblivious to the horror outside, she would probably never experience the things a normal child should. It wasn't fair on her, to have to grow up in a world full of the walking dead.
I trailed after Rick as I noticed the distressed look on his face. As I reached the cell door an arm was placed in front of me.
"Just leave him, he'll be fine" Daryl told me, nodding his head before dragging me back. "Why don't you and Carl go practice your shooting?" I nodded my head and searched around for Carl, and eventually found him in the room playing with his knife. I felt bad for asking him, as he had just lost him mum.
I sighed and sat down next to him, "Daryl said me and you should go practice shooting." Carl nodded his head and handed me a gun, and grabbed one for himself.
"When I found you, you seemed good enough, but your aim isn't great" he told me, his voice lifeless. I nodded my head and pointed my gun at a walker. I smirked as I watched it attempt to grip me. The walker had greasy brown hair, and slimy skin which was grey and falling apart. Her eyes were a piercing blue, the widest eyes I had seen. Something clinked in me as I stared at her closely.
"She looks like my mum" I whispered, staring at the walker. I quickly pulled the trigger, not wanting to look at her anymore. It wasn't my mum, but they looked so similar it was like torture to look at her. I dropped the gun to the floor, my hands shaking as I tried to calm down my racing heartbeat.
"Are you alright?" Carl as as he tugged at my arm, making me look at him. I nodded my head and looked away from his view, trying to hide the fact I was about to break down.
"I have no one. Literally. I don't know where my parents are, there's no one I know who cares for me" I whispered, afraid of my voice breaking. Carl nodded his head and put an arm around me.
"Well, from now on you have me. You have my dad, and I'm sure everyone here would do anything to save you from this world" he dragged me back towards the prison. I sighed, accepting it. I guess even though I didn't really know these people they would protect me.
I walked into the cell block and sat down on my bunk, waiting for Carl to come back.
"I know what we should do to cheer us up," Carl smirked as he sat down next to me, "we should go and watch the stars."
My eyes lite up at the idea, and I quickly scuttled to my feet. I used to always do that with my dad, and we would sit on the deck chairs and name them, or see what they looked like if we joined a couple together.
"I'll take that as a yes then" Carl chuckled as he led me outside. We laid down on the grass and stared up at the sky. The silence was surprisingly soothing, even though usually I hated it for leaving me alone with my thoughts. I sighed as I rested my arms on my stomach and looked around the sky for some stars.
"Can't find any" I chuckled as I turned my head to Carl and noticed him already looking at me. A blush rose to my cheeks, and luckily it was hidden by the dark.
"Oh well, we'll just laying out here staring at the bare sky is fine." I nodded my head and chuckled before looking back up at the sky.
"How did you get out alive, it seems almost impossible?" Carl asked, making me gulp as the memory's came flooding back.
