Cory
After I came home from school, my brother and mother were home.
"Hi, Cory!" My mom greets me as I walk in and close the door behind me. I go over to her and hug her. Parker's arms were out for a hug too and I hugged him before running upstairs to my room. I got in my room and closed the door before kicking my shoes off and taking out my homework. While I was doing homework, I couldn't think all that straight. I just remembered Moan didn't visit my room last night...Or for a while actually. I wondered why he hasn't come. Does he think I don't like him anymore? Because I do, I just, my mother did just come back the day before, he could at least be happy for me. I tried my best to finish the work at my desk without any distractions and luckily I did.
After my homework, I turned on the tv and surfed through channels and there was nothing on, so I turned it off. Out of boredom, I plow down on my bed with my phone and scroll through it. After I got bored with that, it was late and I started to drift off to sleep. I was sound asleep until I was awoken by a cold air surrounding my room. Moan was there sitting my window sill looking out at something into the night sky, not aware that I was awake.
"Hi, Moan." I say, causing him to turn his head and lightly smile at me
"Hey." He says. "How are you?"
"Great, and I have some news to tell you..." I say. He didn't look all that excited to know, but I told him anyway. "My mom was alive the whole time! I have her now, isn't that awesome?!" He nods. I notice his sad and standoffish attitude. It wasn't normal for him. "Moan?"
"Yeah?" He says not making eye contact with me.
"Are you okay? You need someone to talk to?" I ask with concern. He really wasn't himself tonight, so I was determined to know why. He shook his head.
"Just wanted to see you." He says, lying through the smile he plastered on his face. I then take my finger and put it under his chin and turn his head towards me.
"You're lying, Moan. You can tell me anything...Remember." I looked into his eyes and it seems as though they were flickering from real eyes, to ghost eyes. It was weird. I didn't know what it meant. And I guess he noticed I was looking at him weirdly.
"What?" He says. I continue to look at the flickering weirdly. I took my finger from under his chin. "Cory?"
"Hmm?"
"Can I really remember telling you anything? It has been a long time." I sighed. I knew this was about me spending time with my mom.
"Moan, can't you just be happy for me! My mom is alive I have her now!"
"I know this is very important to you and very exciting for you, but you didn't have to shut me out..." He was being difficult at the moment, and it was getting on my nerves.
"I didn't shut you out! You chose not to see me for two weeks."
"That was because I wanted to give you space! and even when I did come, you weren't here like you usually are. What else am I supposed to think?" I was didn't know what to say and I didn't consider what he said to be true.
"Moan...I-I-It's not my fault you were afraid of being forgotten when you already are!" I snapped. And at that moment, I knew I hit Moan close to home because he had a look that showed he couldn't believe I said something like that. I couldn't believe it either. Moan was the one thing I looked forward to coming home to when I felt alone and neglected by my brother at times. We even had some things The last thing I thought about doing to him was be mean to him. And the last thing he hoped anyone would do is be mean to him, especially after all he has gone through.
I could see the anger in his eyes, his full ghost figure flickering weirdly from flesh to transparency. And with all that he stormed out of my room window, leaving the cold air to reminde of my mistake tonight
