Part two

The way back to school goes fast enough, the bus doesn't stop too many times and I don't get anything worse than glares, sometimes people will scream things at me, copy me, or just be plain rude. I can't blame people for staring though, when you hear someone scream you'll instinctively look in their direction.

I'm on my way back to school from the dentist, it was just the monthly check up on my braces. Yup I've got braces. I'm quite the view walking down the street, just imagine, a dark gloomy boy, dark hair and the typical hazel Italian skin, even though my skin has a bit of a gray undertone mixed in with the brown, also I will occasionally jerk my head backwards, scream, or just randomly jump. Yee I guess you can say I'm quite the view.

The bus stops right in front of the schoolyard. I jump out and start walking towards the main entrance. It's around 12 am so I'll come in the middle of lunch.

My friends waves to me the second I enter the lunchroom. It may not seem like it, but I actually have a pretty nice group of friends, you wouldn't think that when you look at me, yea I'm kind of a third wheel, or fifth... but they're pretty inclusive anyways.

So my friend group exists of;
Percy Jackson, the best person on the swimming team, literally to, he's like a fish in the water. He's dating Annabeth.
Annabeth, she's the smartest of us, she has dyslexia but refuses to let that stop her, she studies harder than anyone else and is your go to person if you need help rehearsing for a test.
Then there's Jason and Piper, they're the power couple. Jason looks like a football jock, but he isn't really one, he's more like the typical mom friend. He always cares for everyone and makes sure everyone is OK. And then there's Piper, I don't really know her that well, but she's really nice to everyone, and she's really good at convincing people into doing things.

That's the whole group, so as you see I'm the only person who is not in a realationship... but between you and me, I had a crush in Percy a while back, it's over a long time ago now, but he still doesn't know. I ain't out to anyone in the group yet, but I'm planning to, I know they're going to be accepting, I'm just waiting for the right moment. I am out to my foster mom though, we were just having a casual conversation when she asked me if I had a girlfriend, when I said no she asked if I had a boyfriend, and I answered with "I wish." She took it really well it was just as if I had told her I wanted a girlfriend, except that she told me I had to wear a condom anyways 'cause of std's and stuff like that. It was really awkward but oh well...

I walk over to their table and sit down, "aren't you going to eat anything?" Jason asks with a worried expression, he's always so obsessed with me eating enough, which I am, I'm just extremely skinny after the period I didn't eat at all after Biancas death, I've put on a lot of weight, but I'm still a bit under the normal. Nothing too bad anymore though.

"No," I point to my braces, "I tightened them, it hurts to much, don't worry I ate a big breakfast." Jason doesn't look convinced, but he stops nagging.

I sit there, talking, laughing, and smiling with my friends, I try to think back at a few years ago, everything was very different at that time. I was in a horrible place mentally, and I didn't have any friends, at the time imagining myself as I am today would've been impossible.

After lunch we all walk to our different classes, I have english with Annabeth, so we walk there together. It may not seem like it, but I enjoy school surprisingly much, of course I don't appreciate all the tests and the grades, but having the chance to learn new things and to educate myself surrounded by all of my friends isn't that bad.

We walk into the classroom and sit down at our seats, we're having a group task and Annabeth is in a different group than me. So I sit down at my desk alone.

We're three or four in each group, we're three, it's me, Reyna and Thalia, just for your information, I'm pretty sure they're dating, or at least dating pretty soon. The task involves us three having to cooperate enough to manage to write a creative story. It's a pretty free task, the only criteria are that the story has to be at least eight pages long and involve a plot twist. We haven't really started yet, we've only had one class with this earlier and that was used to go through the task in class and getting sorted into groups.

The teacher walks in with a new student by her side. He's blond, and tall, he looks like a really extroverted person. He smiles at the class when he walks in the door. The teacher points over to my group, and he comes over.

Reyna and Thalia are so busy with each other that they don't notice the new guy. "Hi, I'm Will, Ms Goldberg told me to work with you guys." He reaches out his arm for me to shake. I take it, "I'm Nico," I point behind me to the others from my group, "that's Reyna and Thalia. Do you know what the task is?" He says no and that the teacher told him I would explain. So I do. "We don't have an idea to what to write about yet though." He scratches his chin and starts thinking. I do the same.

After a little while of this I turn around to the girls to introduce them to the new student. "Hey girls, this is Will, he's new here and will be working with us." "Hi Will!" They shake hands, then they go back to talking with each other, or flirting... I'm actually not sure. Will and I look at each other and roll our eyes. I walk over to them and poke Thalia in the shoulder, "hey, are you planning in helping us come up with a story idea?" She turns around, "oh yeah right, sorry." The girls drag their chairs over to our table and sit down and then the real work starts.

By the end of the class we figured we'd write a fantasy story. It's going be about a dark gloomy prince (wonder who that character is based of...) anyways, he would get pretty suddenly in charge of the kingdom after his fathers sudden death after an awkward encounter with a dragon. The prince will then try to take this dragon down, and here's the plot twist, eventually, instead of slaying this dragon, the prince starts to understand it, and wants to help it. And then when the dragon has gotten all the help it needs, it suddenly turns into a man, whom the prince falls in love with. There's another plot twist as well, the dragon turns out to not have been the same dragon as the one who killed the princes father, it was the dragons father who killed him, and together the two boys slay the real evil dragon.

We agreed on meeting at my house tomorrow after school, they would take the bus with me straight from school.
