Prompt: You know I was good and all that once.
With a drink in hand, I lean against the railing of the balcony staring up at the stairs above me. The light that comes from the stairs is magnificent. The twinkling lights of the stairs above my head do their little a dance, almost as if they knew I was watching them. A special dance just for me.
I take a sip of my drink cringing at the burn in the back of my throat before shaking my head and throw back the rest emptying the glass completely other than a few ice cubes left over. Looking down on the streets below me the noise starts to come back, the honking of the car horn, the people walking and talking, and the loud almost deafening music behind me coming from the apartment.
The music was so loud that you could watch your drink jump at the sounds, with a glance behind me I tip my glass over the edge and watch carefully as the ice cubes begin to slide and eventually fall to the ground shattering against the concrete below.
With a deep breath, I push myself off the railing and head back inside for another drink. Nodding to the person who was serving the drinks I slide the glass I had over to him and mouth the words "Whisky and ice." he nods in acknowledgment it and gets another glass, putting three ice cubes in it and then pouring a generous amount of the drink into the glass. Once done I slide him the money for the drink and take my glass and shift through out the party making sure not to hit anyone and making not to get hit.
Sipping my drink I glance around the room, I need to get laid or at least have some fun while I can, but as I look around the room everyone was dancing or making out with another. Sighing I take another sip of my drink and walk back to the balcony to get out of the hot air.
Losing track of time out there listening to everything around me and just watching my surrounding, I didn't hear the door to the balcony being opened or the foot steps that followed. "I wouldn't have pinned you for someone who drinks alone." The voice behind me startles me slightly and I jump and whip around to face the person.
I take a deep breath and let it out slowly, putting a hand over my chest I laugh lightly "Sorry, you scared me, I almost dropped my drink." Smiling widely I shake my head and stick out my hand for a hand shake "I'm Piper."
"Jake," he says as my grabs my hand gently. "So, are you going to tell me why a beautiful lady such as yourself is doing out here all alone?" he asks.
I sigh and shake my head, "It was too crowded couldn't really handle it anymore but I didn't want to leave." I start and that's how my night made a turn for the better we had talked well into the early morning.
Just as I was about to leave I took a hit of something but Jake had caught my arm. I looked at him questionably and he let go of my arm and said "What happened? you have all these dreams and memories but you seem like your talking about someone else's life. why?" He questions.
"I used to be a completely different person Jake," I take a breath and look at the sky thinking about my next words. I turn to walk to the door to leave but just as I was about to walk away from this night I look back at him and say "You know I was good and everything once, just like a Christian girl should be, but now look at me." I state with a wobbly smile as I leave the dying party behind.
