This Is How We Do

It's finally summer. It feels like forever, but we've been waiting for this moment for so long. We're all going on a roadtrip, and it's gonna be awesome. I'm already loving it, and we haven't even left yet.

Everyone piles into their cars, Eddie, James and Seamus in one, Dan, Jordan, Ze and Sp00n in a second and Kevin, Jake and I in a third.

After driving for a few hours until dark, we stop at the side of the road in the middle of nowhere and set up "camp," and by camp I mean a bunch of sticks holding up a tarp under which we put all our sleeping bags. No way in hell were we sleeping yet, though: Our last day of high school, the day we graduate not only that but our childhood: No fuckin' way are we gonna go to bed early.

There are drinks everywhere, now.  All of us sit around a campfire getting drunk out of our minds and I can't remember the last time we had this much fun.

~~A Few Hours Later~~

Okay, so you know how when I said we weren't going to go to bed early? It's only 1 AM and most of us are passed out, so there goes that plan I guess. Kevin, Dan and I are still awake, but I can tell that Dan's almost gone. I think he drank a bit too much. We won't be driving too much tomorrow, I don't think...

"GUYS."

"Are you alright, Dan?" I asked, trying to keep my voice steady. It sounded okay to me, but from the way Kevin started laughing, I might have gotten some words mixed up.

"I am so. Fucking. Tired," Dan yelled, and then he fell off his chair, fast asleep.

Kevin and I looked at him for a moment, then at each other, and then burst out laughing. We finally calmed down, two or ten minutes later, and at that point we'd found our way to our sleeping bags. We weren't ready to fall asleep just yet, though, so we dragged them out from under the tarp to look at the stars. We lay in our sleeping bags, staring up at the sky.

"It's just so much brighter," I said in wonder. I don't know if it was the alcohol talking or not, but damn dude, it looked amazing.

"It's beautiful," Kevin agreed.

"Hey, hey, Kevin. Kevinkevinkevin."

"YessssssSS??"

"Look at me." I rolled over to look at him, and he did the same. For a second I forgot what I was going to do. This might have been the alcohol, too, but he looked really ... nice.

"Were you gonna say something, Alekso?"

I giggled, and when he did too it grew to a laugh.  "Al-Alekso??" I managed to stutter out between laughs.

"I'm going to call you that for the rest of forever," he said seriously. He managed to keep a straight face for about two seconds before bursting into laughter again. He finally calmed down.

I'm so thankful for alcohol, sometimes.  I leaned forward quickly, sloppily kissing his mouth. As far as first kisses go, it probably wasn't the best because we were both drunk as fuck, but I wouldn't change it for the world.

"You just had to take that extra step to make this night a classic, huh?"
