Grian was peacefully asleep by the time I got back to my room. He was curled up in the red and black comforter. Strands of his hair had fallen over his closed eyes. I gently brushed them behind his ear.

I don't know why, but I was simply just sitting next to him as he slept. Watching his chest rise and fall with his calm breaths. In a strange way, I felt relaxed. The fact that he trusted the environment around him enough to remain in such a vulnerable state, made me feel tranquil, as if nothing bad could happen.

Sure, this wasn't the first time I had seen someone asleep. Vampires slept, though not nearly as much as humans, a quick nap would usually be just fine for us. If a vampire slept longer than that, it was simply because they wanted to. But for some reason, it was different when it was Grian.

And yes, I am very much aware of how creepy this all seems. After all, I'm watching him sleep and thinking about how it makes me feel. Definitely creepy.

"So, you just stare at people when they sleep?" I was pulled out of my thoughts to be met with a now awake Grian, "Is that like your hobby or something?"

I smiled nervously, "No. Sorry, I was just checking on you and I guess I just got distracted."

"Distracted by what? My handsome face?" He raised an eyebrow.

"Sure, we'll go with that."

"I'm not sure whether to be offended, creeped out, or flattered?"

"You should feel flattered."

Grian just laughed. I don't know why, but I loved his laughter. It made me want to find other ways to make him laugh.

He calmed down and just smiled at me, his eyes studying my face. I smirked, "Now look who's staring."

A light blush dusted over his cheeks, "Sorry."

"No problem, in fact I feel flattered."

Grian rolled his eyes, "So, where were you, I haven't seen you since this morning."

I shrugged, "Places."

"Okay. Are you tired or anything?"

I shook my head, "No, not really. I'm fine."

Though I did actually feel very sleepy, I wanted to stay up and talk to Grian for as long as I could. After all, we didn't get a lot of time to talk like this.

Grian tilted his head, "You sure."

I chuckled a little, "Positive, you don't have to worry about me."

"If you say so," Grian shifted so that he was sitting on the bed.

We just stared at each other for a while. I could tell Grian had something on his mind, "What are you thinking about?"

"Can I ask you a question?"

"Sure."

"How long have you been a vampire?"

"As long as I can remember, after all, I was born one."

"So, you've never been human."

"Yes, but that doesn't mean I don't have an idea of what it's like."

"What does that mean?"

"Maybe I'll tell you later."

"Do you know when you were born? Or how old you would be now?"

"I was born in 1652, so that would make me... 365 years old."

To a vampire, that wasn't much. However, I understood that many humans didn't even live to be 100. Grian stared at me, wide eyed.

I raised an eyebrow, "What?"

Grian looked down at the ground, his cheeks still slightly rosy, "Nothing, I guess it's just that you don't look your age."

I smiled, "Of course not, I'm a vampire after all."

"What age did you stop growing at? I mean, I'm assuming you grew, I'd feel bad for your mother if she had to push you out like this."

"Typically, vampires stop growing when they reach their early twenties. From there it varies."

Grian nodded. He shifted his seating position so his legs swung off the side of the bed, we sat shoulder to shoulder.

"So, is there anytime that you loved the most, if that makes sense. Like during your life, was there any point that you wish you could go back to or anything?" Grian asked.

I thought about it for a moment, "I really like now. I know it's not an exciting answer, but it's true. To be honest, I have a lot of restrictions in my life and things I have to live up to. So, this is probably the most fun I've ever had."

"What do you mean?"

"My father is the leader of this coven, if and when he ever dies, I have to take over. Vampires tend to panic when they get new leader, even if most of them have lived with me for most of their life, vampires aren't to fond of changes in covens. Plus, I'm sure they would feel more secure if I too had a successor, which I something I can't provide."

"Couldn't you just hook up with vampire girl?"

"It's not that simple, I can't do that."

"Why? You just said it was your job to produce a successor."

"There are other ways to get a successor. Besides, I'm only interested in one person, and they can't have a child."

Grian frowned, "Why?"

"I don't think guys can get other guy pregnant. Plus, I told you I have restrictions in my life, I'm not allowed to have a child."

Grian looked confused, "But that doesn't make sense. If you're not allowed to have a child, how can the bloodline continue?"

I smiled, "Like I told you, there are other ways."

He stared at me, "So, who's the vampire you have the hots for?"

I couldn't help but laugh. He looked at me weird, "What? Was it something I said?"

I nodded, turning to fully face him, "Yes, because it's not a vampire."

Grian's eyes had a glimmer of hope in them, which only made me smile harder. The blush on his cheeks slowly becoming darker as my face inched closer to his until we were so close, our noses were touching. My eyes flicked down to his lips before looking back in his eyes. I moved a little closer till my lips were ghosting over his. Grian's eyes had slid shut. Mine closed as well, as I finally brought our lips together.
