Complications

Darkness, that's all I could see. It was cold and I was in a terrible amount of pain. I tried to move my hands but I couldn't, I was tied up. I couldn't even remember how I got here. Slowly the memories started coming back.

*flashback*

Jacob and I were walking towards the beach hand in hand when suddenly we heard a noise. Jacob turned around to see what it was and all of it went so fast. He didn't even have time to phase before they broke his bones. The pain became so much he couldn't do anything and neither could I. Someone had a rag over my mouth and nose making me weak. The last thing I saw was the love of my life in so much pain he couldn't even breathe properly. It just broke my heart knowing I couldn't do anything.

*end of flashback*

Tears came to my eyes thinking of him. I just hoped he was ok. I tried to use my power to get myself untied but the pain made it too hard to concentrate.

"Let me go!" I shouted.

"What do you want from me?!"

"Who are you?!"

"What did you do with Jacob?!"

"Quiet! You'll find out soon enough" I heard a female voice say.

"Please just let me go." I said before breaking into tears.

Some time later a small light turned on allowing me to see my surrounding. I was in some kind of basement tied to a wall. When I looked at my arms I saw hand shaped bruises. My clothes were dirty and the ropes were too tight hurting my wrists and ankles.

"Are you sure it's her?" I heard a male voice ask from a distance.

"The boy was with her, it must be her." The female voice from earlier said.

"What are we going to do with her?" he asked her.

"Aro said that he needed her, but he wanted to know the limit of her power first." She said. As soon as she mentioned his name I knew who was keeping me captive. It was the Volturi, they must've heard about my capabilities. I had heard stories of Aro and how he liked to "collect" vampires and humans with special gifts. Humans were turned into vampires and their gifts became more powerful. I refuse to let some creep with an obsession turn me into a vampire because he thinks I'll be stronger.

"Is Aro scared of her?"

"No, of course not. He's just not sure what she's capable of."

"So what do we do now?"

"We test her, we need to know her limits." I think they were coming closer to the basement, because their voices were
getting louder.

Then I saw a young girl with blond hair in a bun and red eyes, she was wearing black and red clothing that looked very old. Jane. I've heard about her as well. She was basically Aro's sidekick. She did whatever he asked her. The thing I was scared of most was her gift. She could put people through an unimaginable amount of pain and wouldn't even blink. She's cruel, heartless and just awful.

Next to her was a young boy with brown hair and the same red eyes. Alec. Her brother. Alec is just like her, cruel, heartless... but his gift was something different. He could make you numb, unable to feel anything. The Volturi used his gift during fights. They would paralyse their opponents and then rip their heads off.

Never in a million years would I join the Volturi. They think they're helping others while all they're doing is hurting them. Tearing families apart just for another addition to their "collection of gifts". I just don't want anything to do with them.

But right now the thing I was most worried about was Jacob, the pack and Cullens. As long as the Volturi were here they wouldn't be safe. All of a sudden I realized what was going on. They were holding me captive here so I couldn't fight. If I can't fight than they will kill everyone. We thought they were coming to kill Renesmee and punish the Cullens, but we were wrong. There was another reason. Me.

Jane was now standing in front of me, she looked like she was concentrating really hard on something. She just got even more frustrated by the minute. Alec stood next to her putting a hand on her shoulder.

"Let me try." He said. The same look crossed Alec's face. They were testing their powers on me. It probably didn't work because of my ancestors and my gift.

They were interrupted by a ringing phone. Jane picked up the phone and answered it.

"Yes Aro, we understand, we'll be there." She ended the phone call and left.

Jacob's POV

I was laying on the floor, not able to move due to my broken bones. They took her, they took her away from me. I wanted to protect her, keep, her safe, but I couldn't move. I couldn't even see who it was, they attacked me from behind, wrapped their arms around me and crushed my bones. Once I find her, I will kill them. Nobody is allowed to touch her, nobody's allowed to hurt her. If they do, they have deal with me.

"Jake! What happened?! Where's Avery?!" Sam shouted running towards me.

"They attacked me, it happened so fast I didn't even get time to phase. They just took her away from me."

"Guys! Get over here! Get Jacob home, the rest of you go look for Avery, we need to find her!" Sam was pissed and as soon as the guys heard that Avery was gone they were pissed as well. They are just as over protective of her as I am.

The guys lifted me up and carried me home. I needed to heal as soon as possible because I needed to find her. I didn't even want to think about what happened to her. My thoughts were too negative. I just needed to find her.

Avery POV

It's been three days and I'm still in this dark basement. The only contact I have with Jane or Alec is when they come to give me food, which isn't often. In these three days I've eaten twice, even then the only thing I got was a packet of chips and a bottle of water. I was starving dehydrated and in pain. My body was aching due to the lack of movement. Oh and I've gotten to shower and change once and that's only because a vampires sense of smell is stronger and Jane couldn't take my smell anymore. I tried to escape but there was no window and Jane was waiting for me outside the bathroom. I couldn't do anything because I was too weak, I could barely stand.

For the first time in three days I heard something from Jane and Alec.

"We need to go, Aro needs us to be there when the Cullens and their friends start arriving." Jane said to Alec.

"What about the girl?"

"She's too weak, she won't be able to escape."

"I hope you're right sister." He said.

That's when I heard a door open and close indicating that they were gone. The fight. It's happening today. I needed to help, I promised them. They needed my help. I ignored the pain all over my body and concentrated on the ropes tying me to the walls. When it didn't work I got mad. My friends needed me and I couldn't help because I was too weak.

Suddenly I fell onto the floor, it worked! The ropes were loosened and I was free. I gathered all the strength I had and got up. I limped towards the door and forced it open. I saw a car nearby, I unlocked it with my power and started it.

I saw all of it, the clearing, the Volturi, the Cullens and their friends and the pack. Jacob looked broken I'm glad he was there. They needed all the help they could get. During these past days I saw visions of Jacob and the pack, they were looking for me. I saw how upset Jacob was and it was just painful to watch.

My recent vision helped me figure out where they were. I started driving until I saw a familiar road. Luckily I was still in Forks. I had gotten to know the place pretty well and I knew where I needed to go. Within 10 minutes I was there. I ran towards the clearing, right now I wasn't thinking. I just needed to see all of them safe and sound.
