Stars shining bright above you
Night breezes seem to whisper "I love you"
Birds singing in the sycamore tree
Dream a little dream of me

Say "Night-ie night" and kiss me
Just hold me tight and tell me you'll miss me
While I'm alone and blue as can be
Dream a little dream of me

Stars fading but I linger on, dear
Still craving your kiss
I'm longing to linger till dawn, dear
Just saying this

Sweet dreams till sunbeams find you
Sweet dreams that leave all worries behind you
But in your dreams whatever they be
Dream a little dream of me

Stars fading but I linger on, dear
Still craving your kiss
I'm longing to linger till dawn, dear
Just saying this

Sweet dreams till sunbeams find you
Sweet dreams that leave all worries behind you
But in your dreams whatever they be
Dream a little dream of me
Dream a little dream of me
Dream a little dream
Of me

I love hearing Doris Day every morning as I walk around my room, scavenging for the next outfit I’d wear.
I usually start off my day listening to whichever Doris Day song my media player chooses and then once I find my outfit I turn on shuffle. Today it's Fall Out Boy – Young Volcanoes, my mother rushes upstairs to know if I’m okay when all I was doing was jumping around my room acting like I was in a music video.
Just me?
Okay.
Currently I was slipping into my cork heels, listening to my mother telling me her schedule while she placed her pearl earrings in each ear.
The vintage style is quite glamorous isn’t it?
“I’m having lunch with Mrs. Laurence at 12pm, would you tag along?” My mother asks, applying dark red lipstick.
“Sure, that’d be fantastic. Where shall we dine?”
“She’ll message me about location later.”
“Great, Scarlet is picking me up in a minute so I can go say goodbye to Maci.”
“Tell her I’m sending her good luck.”
“Will do.” I smile as she exits the room.
I grab my phone and text Scarlet about her arrival but as I was about to hit send she honked her car horn outside.
Grabbing my bag and running out the front door, I elegantly slide into the passenger seat of Scarlet's car.
She received her a car as a graduation present.
A restored and updated 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air Convertible in Pink Opal.
“So what’s up girly?” Scarlet smiles.
“Nothing much, I have a lunch date with my mother and Mrs. Laurence.”
“Well that’s cool, should I drop you off there or is your mom taking you?”
I suddenly realize something while I scroll through my notifications.
Matt texted me last night about our date and ironically he wants to take me out for lunch today.
This is a fucking great day right?
“Scarlet!" I whine.
"What is it this time?"
"Matt sorta, kinda, maybe asked me out."
Scarlet nearly swerves off the road.
“Matt asked you out?” She yells with wide eyes.
I nod my head and swallow.
"We're supposed to meet for lunch today."
“Well do you actually want to go on a date with him or?”
I shake my head and place my head in my hands, chuckling at the thought.
“Well then you should invite him to lunch with you, friendzone him for sure this time.”
I look up with a smirk.
What a better way to friendzone someone than take them to lunch with your mother and mother’s friend at a fancy Café?
“SCARLET YOU ARE A GENUIS!” I lunge at her, making her nearly once again swerve off the road.
“Jeez okay, low air supply over here.” She chokes.
I sit back and message my mother about the “occurance.”
She replies and says Matt is welcome to join.
Plan goes into action.
“So you don’t like Matt anymore?” Scarlet asks with an eyebrow raised.
I shook my head and smiled to myself.
“But he’s been like obsessed with you all week.”
“Just cause he’s obsessed with me doesn’t mean I’m gonna fall in love with him.” I snort.
“But you used to really like him.”
“And now I don’t.”
Scarlet shrugs and continues driving.with
"Just make sure that you're not ruining any chance you have with him." Scarlet begs.
"I won't, I promise." I slide my sunglasses on and turn to look at the road ahead, all badass and movie like.
This is going to be great.
