Hello all! I'm back here again with something for you guys. It's short and a prelude to the next post which is a bit lengthier.
So today, we'll be having what we call Scripture Wednesday. It's part of our program on the blog, and it's basically just shining the spotlight on a particular scripture.
It could be a single verse, couple of verses, an entire chapter, there's no limit really, so long as it's taken from the Word.
Today we'll be looking at a single verse, and it's taken from the book of Hebrews, in chapter 13 verse 5. It reads:
"Let your character [your moral essence, your inner nature] be free from the love of money [shun greed-be financially ethical], being content with what you have; for He has said, "I will never [under any circumstances] desert you [nor give you up nor leave you without support, nor will I in any degree leave you helpless], nor will I forsake or let you down or relax My hold on you [assuredly not]!"
-Amplified Version [AMP]Have you finished reading the verse, without skipping a thing? You have?
Okay, that's good. Let's move on.
What is this Bible verse telling us?
From my own understanding, what I can draw as the message of this verse is that, we need to free ourselves from the shackles of worry, or love of material things (like money); and that, we need to be content with what God has given us.
Why? Because He said, that He would never leave or forsake us. That means that He would never leave us without care or support, or without ensuring that we are alright.
So shun that worry, because God is never leaving you unattended to. He meets us at the point of our needs and has nothing but good thoughts toward us, so what reason do we have to fear?
That's right, none!
Are you still with me?
You are?
Wonderful! The latter part of this verse is what is really focused upon. I won't lie, that was the only part I focused upon, but at least I know the beginning part now.
The latter part being, "I will never leave you nor forsake you."
It has been my consolation scripture for a long time. When it's time to beat off fear or loneliness, I reassure myself that my Father in heaven is always always with me, and it always does the trick. You should try it too!Knowing the first part of the verse has also brought me another perspective. The perspective is that, there's absolutely no need to worry.
He has reassured us, countless times in His word. That He is always with us, and will never abandon us. That's comforting, isn't it?
Yeah...I thought so.
Fun fact: In Deuteronomy 31:6, we are also assured that he wouldn't leave nor forsake us:
"Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the Lord your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you."
-NKJVThat says something, doesn't it?
So the take home in all of this, is that, God is always with you. You may not see Him, but you can feel Him.
The only way that you'll feel Him, is if you concentrate on looking for him. If your focus is on feeling God, then you'll see that He has actually been there all along. You're just the one who didn't notice.
You still here?
You are?
Great! I'm thankful that you're still here. There you have it, today's truth. God is always with you, you just need to concentrate on feeling His presence.
