I have been at war
much too long to actually
believe gods are
watching over me
The concept of God, some all-powerful being
who rules the universe
sometimes with tenderness
and often not so tender
all in the name of love?
I've seen people who never go to church
act more like Jesus supposedly did
than Christians who never seem to have time
for anything else besides church
The Old Testament is frightening
it is filled with misery
I wonder if there really is a spot
at the Golden Gates for
hypocrites who preach love,
all the while kicking the
downtrodden
