Birds were chirping while the sky was blue and the air was crisp and the sun was shining. The kids were prancing around and jumping in the pool, and the adults were all in groups, talking over each other. The smell of the barbecue filled the air.
My long strands of hair were tickling the skin exposed by the cutout at my short pink-pastel colored dress.
"Honey, come say Hi to Mr. and Mrs. Robertin" my dad called me over as he put his hand out for me.
My parents love to have neighborhood parties, but I hate that we're having a party with my sister in the hospital. Every where I go, I get that sick, guilty feeling. And after everyone found out about Anna, everyone feels bad for us. I'm tired of all the pity. "Oh my, poor Anna" when I know they don't care because it's not them going through it.
The small breeze trickled past me and gave me goosebumps down my legs and arms.
My father started introducing me to a couple that looked really familiar, like it was one of those people I've met when I was at a very young age. Their daughter used to steal my ice cream, but now I heard she moved out of her house because she couldn't deal with her parents or something. She's living in a random house that this small greek family used to live in, but the family ran out of it and left it for foreclosure.
"Nice to meet you!" I smiled and shook their hands, and while I shook their hands, I was immediately withdrawn what from what was going on to all the way by the gate.
Harry walked in and I looked at him twice , while he looked at me there was a wave of heat rushing over me and all the sound and motion was blocked as our eyes met right away.
I tossed my hair back a few seconds later "It was nice meeting you Mr. and Mrs. Robert" I smiled with a small laugh.
"Robertin" my mom corrected me.
"Oh , of course, sorry."
Mom, Dad can I talk to you?" I asked my parents and wrapped my arms around theirs.
The Robertin's walked away "Honey, whats wrong with you?-"
"What is Harry and his parents doing here?" I interrupted my mom as I looked past my parents and saw them coming towards us.
Ever since my family moved here, we never got a long with them. Harry and I are very alike, and it's pretty obvious because we were raised the same way, in the same environment, but we were never friends. Never really wanted to be his friend either.
"Look who it is, the Styles family." My dad chuckled and shook Harry's dad's hand, while they leaned into a manly hug.
I was so confused. My dad only hugs his great friends. They started asking each other about golf, which is another thing my dad talks about with his close friends. My mom was hugging Harry's mom and then there was just us 2 standing there.
I never actually realized how tall he actually was until he finally stood in front of me. He had a tall upper body that towered over me.
" Wow, look who showed up. Mr. popular over here. " I laughed while putting my hands behind my back and swaying in one spot.
" I always thought you were a jokester. You're looking great in this dress, by the way. " he winked at me, looked down at his shoes and chuckled.
He's such a flirt. I expect it from him of course, because he gets a new girl every week and everyone knows about it. Good luck with him though.. haha.
"Honey, you should show Harry your room, and your shell collection. " she smiled while holding a tray of goods that Harry's mom brought over.
Harry snorted quietly after she said "shell collection".
"Mom, I stopped collecting those in 6th grade." I said in embarrassment and placed my palm on my head while everyone laughed.
It's true, It's true. I did collect shells. I used to collect shells, alright?
