"Steve!" Sam yelled, and tried to fly to help the Super Soldier out, but The Winter Soldier grabbed one of his wings, throwing him back. Sam started shooting at The Winter Soldier but he was fast, dodging the bullets and racing towards Sam.
"Falcon!" Tempest yelled. She began running to them, she had to stop the Winter Soldier, she had to save Sam and Steve, she was too late, Sam had a wing ripped off, and was thrown off the side to Steve too. She ran, summoning fire in both her hands and punching The Winter Solider in the jaw, then kicking his flank, and twisting to kick him in the head with the other leg. Using that as leverage, she sat on his shoulders, and using her fiery hands, she burnt his neck, and flipped him over onto his back.
"Cap? Cap, come in. Are you okay?" Sam asked, he had landed down on the roof of the Triskelion.
"Yeah, I'm here! I'm still on the Helicarrier." He said, pulling himself up. "Where are you?"
"I'm grounded, the suit's down. Sorry, Cap, Tempest." He said.
"Don't worry, I got it." Tempest said. "Cap, I'll hold of Winter Soldier, you lock Charlie and we take him together." She ordered.
"Understood." Cap said, running off with the chip. Tempest looked around for The Winter Soldier, but he was already at the place where Cap was headed.
"Shit." She swore, and took off in a run to their face off. The Winter Soldier pulled a knife, and Tempest swooped in, controlling the air around her. His focus was now on Tempest, he kicked at her but she dodged, hastily moving around the other side and kicking at him, he grabbed her leg, but she knew the drill already, it was simple enough to heat herself up, brilliantly blinding and almost on fire, he let go, in pain from the extreme heat. The Winter Soldier managed to stab Steve in the shoulder with his knife, but tempest kicked him in the back, sending both of the sprawling off the edge and onto another platform, she jumped down, and Steve kicked him. Tempest, lunged for the chip, but the Winter Soldier was quicker, grabbing it. Steve managed to get the knife out of his hands, and grab the Winter Soldier by the throat and hold him down.
"Drop it! Drop it!" Steve yelled in pain. Not the physical kind, although he had been shot in the side, and stabbed in the shoulder. The Winter Soldier continued to hold onto the chip, and Tempest stepped in, breaking his flesh arm, and he screamed in pain, Tempest didn't feel bad, he was hurting Steve, he was evil. Steve screamed too, locking his arms around The Winter Soldier's throat, blocking the passage of air until he passed out and let go of the chip. Tempest grabbed it, summoned air around herself and flew herself back to the platform with the tube.
"Thirty seconds, Tempest!" Maria yelled. Tempest had to send a fireball at the now conscious Winter Soldier, who was shooting at Steve. Steve was climbing up to help Tempest, however, one of the bullets hit him in the stomach, on the other side from the stab and other bullet wound.
"Charlie locked." Tempest breathed out a sigh of relief.
"Okay, good, get Cap out of there." Maria ordered. "Kill the Winter Soldier if you have to."
"Fire now." Steve groaned, grabbing at his side in pain.
"But, Steve... Scout." Maria said.
"Do it! Do it now!" Scout said, she'd gone back from being Tempest, and was filled with emotion. The noise was deafening, the sound of three Helicarriers shooting each other. Steve was right next to Scout, she grabbed him to support him.
"Scout, I'm sorr-"
"Now is not the time for apologies Rogers. We're getting out of this. Alive." She said. Then there was a large scream, some of the machinery had fallen on The Winter Soldier, and without any permission from her brain, Scout's feet were rushing forward, but Steve stopped her.
"He'll recognise me, let me."
"Steve-"
"GO!" He yelled, and she reluctantly looked back at him, then made up her mind. She had betrayed him once in New York, and he had just begun to forgive her, now she had to help him, save his best friend, it was a matter of Scout repaying a debt larger than Tony's ego, it was a matter of trying to wipe her old decision, she would do anything to save him, not just physically either, she'd try help him emotionally too. She owed it to Steve. He jumped off the platform and Scout swore under her breath, following him.
"You've been shot, you need help." She stood there as he began lifting the chunk of metal. She lifted her arms, summoning every ounce of power she had left in her, and with the help of Steve, they managed to lift it off him, he escaped, and launched himself at Steve.
"You know me." Steve said.
"No, I don't!" The Winter Soldier yelled, Scout tried to step between them, but she was punched by the metal arm, sending her sprawling across the dais. She felt weak and drained from fighting so hard after so long not using her power.
"Bucky, you've known me your whole life." He said, and the Winter Soldier punched him, and Steve didn't fight back. "Your name is James Buchanan Barnes." He said, weakly, blood coming from his mouth.
"Shut up!" The Winter Solider yelled. Steve took off his mask and dropped his shield out of the Helicarrier, with the last of her energy, with her eyes drooping shut, Scout reached out her arm, and tried to summon the winds to catch the shield, but she was too drained, at that point, she passed out.;
The girl with the choppy short hair, bloodied face and body fell. One arm was up, like it was reaching, and the other was out, like she was trying to catch herself, but she was unconscious, she didn't have the capability. Her uniform was ripped open across the stomach, the white catsuit stained with blood. Her body had gone pale; she'd lost too much blood. In her mind, there was nothing, just blackness, until a voice rang out.
"Метеличок, метеличок, у садок прилетів. На квіточку білесеньку він тихенько присів." It was a lullaby, Ukrainian. Something from a distant memory.
"сестра" Sister. The same voice said to her. It sounded far away. "А Грицько наш малий метелика ізловив За крилечка піймав, у скляночку посадив. А Галиночка-сестриченька просить, молить Грицька" Then her face was there. A face that looked almost like her own, but without the blood, and no scar on her left cheek. Her hair was different too. It was blonde, but with dark roots. It was long, with small bouncy curls. Scout was sure that was going to be the last face she ever saw, feeling nothing, she hit the water, and the face went away, but the voice remained, still singing the lullaby about the butterfly. "Ой випусти, мій братіку, із тюрми метелика. А Грицько наш малий добре серденько мав, Не морив метелика, йому воленьку дав." Her eyes opened, hazel and wide, to not the water, but a hospital room. Next to her, sat Natasha."You talk in your sleep." Nat smiled fondly at the girl. "What did I say?" Scout implored, the lullaby and face a distant memory, a side effect of the pain medication."You were talking in Ukrainian again, something about a butterfly being jailed, you muttered sister a few times." Natasha explained. Scout nodded.
"Strange." She murmured.
"I've helped you set up a new alias. Scout Livingston, born and raised in Manchester, England, attending University of Manchester for medicine. Figured you'd enjoy that. Your flight is tomorrow morning, I've already rented out your New York apartment, figured you'd like to keep it, even if you're not using it. You're going after him aren't you?" Natasha knew the look on the younger girls face.
"If he has any sense, he'll have escaped HYDRA while they're down, got out of the country."
"Here, my new number, along with Steve's, Sharon's, Hill's, everyone but Fury is on there. Keep in touch."
"And where are you going?"
"Figured I'd lay low for a while, maybe a farm somewhere, help Clint organise Barney and Laura's wedding, it's been postponed you know, something about Laura not wanting to marry while pregnant, I'm gonna go help him out."
"I'm sure that's the only reason he wants you around." Scout smirked. She began pulling some of the cords that connected her to machines around the room out of her arms and legs.
"I should get packing." She shivered, the backless hospital gown was cold, standing up and walking to the window, she felt her muscles stretch and it felt good. She opened the window, shivering even more from the cold air.
"Scout, you never told me about how you got those." Nat said, looking at Scout's back. The scars that littered her back were arranged in the shape of wings, they were by no means fresh, but they were large and violent and covered the entirety of her back.
"No, I never did tell you." Scout said, tracing one of the ones she could reach. "It remains a story for another day. Have fun Natasha, try and stay out of trouble." They quickly hugged, then Natasha left, and Scout jumped out of the window, using the abilities that had rested for many days to lower herself off the building and to the floor.
