The ride started and Les clapped her hands giddily. I laughed at how happy she was. We leaned with the ride and when it was over, I didn't want to get off. But Les jumped up, my hand in hers. "Next one! C'mon, Ash!"
Ash. Immediately after she said it she blushed. But I just grinned at her and asked, "Which ride now?" I liked Ash. It was cute that she wanted a nickname for me.
"That one!" Les exclaimed and pointed.
It was some kind of ride with swings that went around and around really fast. It looked fun.
We ran towards it and gave the girl standing there our tickets. She winked at me and said, "My name's Britney. Is this your girlfriend?"
I don't know a lot about relationships but, usually, when a guy is holding hands with another girl-- even if we weren't dating-- other girls get the hint and back off. Les laughed. "Nope," she said before I could answer and took her hand from mine. "He's single and ready to mingle." Les wiggled her eyebrows at the girl and ran to get on the ride.
I widened my eyes and put my hands up. "I'm not really looking for a girlfriend though--."
"Oh honey," Britney said. "I don't have to be your girlfriend. I can be whatever you want me to be." She smiled flirtatiously.
"Yeah. No thanks," I said.
I ran through the gates, but, as I did, Britney hit my butt. I turned around to see her grinning at me. I ran to the swing behind Les to wait for the ride to start. She turned around to me and said, grinning, "What's up, lover boy?"
"She slapped my ass!" I hissed.
Les burst out laughing and turned back around in the swing. When the ride finally started, I could sense rather than see her grin. As the swings got up to full speed, I saw her stick her arms out to look as if she was flying. She turned back to me and grinned, the wind whipping her dark hair all different directions, but she somehow still managed to look perfect. I quickly fumbled for my phone and snapped a picture of her. She didn't notice a thing.
When it was over I got off my swing quickly and stood in front of Les's. "Piggyback ride?" She asked as she grinned.
"Sure," I said. I mean, I was going to offer her help down, but a piggyback ride works, too.
She climbed on my back and we left the swings. "Can we go on the ferris wheel?" she asked.
I headed that way without answering. We handed the person our tickets and I let Les down. We got in the chair together and we started going up. I gulped noticeably and Les laughed. "Forget to mention something?"
"Um.. I may have," I said nervously. Les raised an eyebrow and smirked. "I may be... Not a fan of heights?" It sounded more like a question.
Les laughed. "'Not a fan of'? Don't you mean scared?"
I glared at her. "No. I don't get scared."
"Really? Because we're a long ways up here. Just imagine the fall off of this thing. I wonder how many bones you could break while fall--."
"Okay, okay!" I cut her off. "I'm scared of heights, alright?" I hissed.
"Sorry. What?" Les cupped her ear.
"I'm scared of heights," I said louder.
"I still can't hear you." She was just messing with me now.
"I'm scared of heights!" I shouted at the top of my lungs.
Les started laughing uncontrollably. I turned to her. "Did you hear it that time?"
