It was extremely cold outside, the winter breeze hit you in the face while you walked down the streets of New York, wrapping your scarf around your neck to prevent yourself from getting sick. You were on your way to your favorite coffee shop, after a long day of working at as an assistent in an office, you thought It would be great to grab a warm drink before going home.

Finally arriving at the coffee shop, you pushed the door open and instantely were greeted with the smell of coffee and cookies. You smiled, walking towards your favorite place, a small table for two at the window with a perfect view of the small lake outside. Within a few minutes, the waitress whos name was Lauren, walked up to your table and smiled.

"Hey (Y/N). Same as always, huh?" She asked, holding her notepad in her hands.

"No, actually, I want a (coffee of your choice)" you smirked, wanting to do try something different today.

"Of course. It'll be ready soon" She said with a smile, writing down your order and walking back to tell her co-worker your order so he can fullfill your wish.

You leaned back in your chair, enjoying the relaxing atmosphere and the great view. Even though the coffee shop was pretty packed for a normal wednesday afternoon, it wasn't really loud inside. People were sitting at their tables, talking quietly or just enjoying each others company in silence.

All of sudden, while staring outside in deep thought, someone behind you cleared their throat to get your attention. You startled before turning around quickly, expecting Lauren with your drink. But instead, it was a boy around your age, mabye 18 or 19. He had dark hair, brown eyes that reminded you of melted dark chocolate and he was pretty normal in height. But even though the guy looked pretty average, there was something about him that intrigued you without even knowing him.

"Eh, hi. I'm sorry for bothering you but I-I'm afraid this is the only free chair and I was...I was wondering If I could sit here?" he nervously asked me, rubbing his neck.

Smiling, I nodded and gestured towards the chair infront of me.

"Have a seat, I'm actually kind of happy to get some company"

"Thanks" he mumbled, smiling slightly before taking a seat.

"I'm Simon, by the way" he said after a couple of seconds filled with silence.

"I'm (Y/N), nice to meet you, Simon" I smiled about his shyness, it was so cute.

Lauren came with my order, putting the drink in front of me before asking Simon for his order, giving him a smile and leaving to get his drink.

"So, Simon" I started "What are you doing her?"

God, how dumb was this questinon? I mean, what does someone do at a coffee shop? Definetly no car washing.

"I was on my way home from a band rehearsal and I was in the mood for some coffee, I think" he shrugged his shoulders.

"You're in a band?" I asked, kind of suprised.

"Yes, I'm the bassist" he smiled, seeming proud.

"Wow, that's really cool! I love music, you should totally let me listen to you some time"

"Of course" he nodded quickly, thanking Lauren who brought his drink before leaving us alone again. We talked for quite a while, speaking over random things, laughing and having a good time. Simon was a really sweet guy and his shyness had faded away a bit during our conversation, letting his funny side come out more which was something I really liked.

We sat there for about one hour before I finally took a look at my watch, realization hitting me. My eyes widened and I looked at Simon with a almost sad expression.

"I'm really sorry but I have to go now, It's pretty late already and my roommate is propaply already freaking out because I'm home yet" I sighed

"It's alright, I don't want someone to worry about you" he smiled slighty

"How about we exchange numbers? I'd really like to see you again sometime, Simon. It was really nice to talk to you" You smiled, getting one of relieve in return

"That would be great" Getting his phone out, he gave me his number and I saved it, promising him to text as soon as I'm home

"Thank you for your company, Simon. It was really cool to hang out with you"

"It was a pleasure, (Y/N). We should meet again, soon." he smiled brightly this time, it was so adorable.

I stood up from my seat, leaving some money for the drinks and before I finally left, I leaned down and kissed Simon on his cheek. On my way to the door, I looked back just to see Simon sitting there, bright red, letting his fingers touch the skin I just kissed.

Giggling, I left the coffee shop, walking trough the cold night while thinking about the great person I just met. I was pretty sure that this would be the beginning of a great friendship... or maybe something more?

Meanwhile, Simon was totally confused by your action. But honestly, it felt nice. He couldn't stop smiling when he walked back home, thinking about the amazing girl he met today.

While he was standing on his front porch, searching for his keys, his phone suddenly buzzed in his jeans pocket. Quickly, he unlocked it and saw a message from an unknown number

'Hey Simon. It's me, (Y/N). Again, I just wanted to say that I really enjoyed today. I can't wait to meet you again, you're an awesome guy and I really like you already. :) Are you free Friday night?'

Smiling like an idiot to himself, Simon opened the door and walked inside while answering and agreeing to their first date on Friday.
