Taylor's POV

I carefully combed through my closet, picking out all the clothes I needed to take with me.

Seeing the clothes pile on my bed grow larger, my mother cleared her throat.

"You don't need to bring your whole closet Taylor. It's in San Francisco and won't get nearly as cold as it does in New York. You don't need 5 different winter parkas. Just take one regular winter jacket. And you know they have a laundromat and laundry services. You don't even have to wash your own clothes." My mother said, picking through the pile of clothes.

I turned around and looked at my pile. She was right. I had 5 winter parkas and dozens of warm New York winter outfits that I wouldn't need in California. I began to shift through the pile, separating the winter and summer clothes into two different piles.

Once I finally finished organizing my clothes into seasonal piles, I began to sort through the summer pile. As I planned outfits, I saw my mother look down at her watch.

"Taylor! It's 10:00 pm. We need to be at the airport by 6:00 am. Hurry up and finish packing so you can be in bed and get some sleep. You probably won't be able to sleep on the flight and you don't need to go through orientation as a sleepless zombie." My mother said, rushing me.

"Got it Mom. Goodnight." I called to her as she headed to her room to go to bed.

I finally finished packing my clothes and moved on to my toiletries.

As I packed my toiletries, I daydreamed about what it would be like. I pictured myself in a single bedroom apartment with a walk in closet and spa sized bathtub and a towel warmer.

I laughed at myself when I realized I was just picturing my bedroom at home. I would probably be in a dorm room with a roommate and no closet space and no bathroom. The bathrooms would probably be communal. I shuddered. The thought of sharing a few shower stalls with a whole floor of girls terrified me. I'd have to wake up at 4 am if I wanted to shower with hot water and not wait in line.

When I finally finished packing it was 12:30 am. I sighed. It was gonna be an early morning. I set my alarm clock for 4:30 am. Just because I got no sleep didn't mean I had to look like it.

BeepBeep! BeepBeep!

My alarm went off for the third time. I snoozed it again and rolled over, sighing. I didn't want to leave my comfy bed, but if I didn't get up soon I would like a rat on the plane.

I finally dragged myself out of my bed and into my bathroom. I started the water and waited for to warm so I could shower. While I waited, I added towels to my towel warmer and turned it on. I didn't leave my fluffy blankets for cold towels.

When my shower water was warm enough I stepped in. Suddenly I heard my alarm going off again.

BeepBeep! BeepBeep!

Shit! It was 5:00am. I rushed through my shower and got out quickly, wrapping a warm towel around me. I plugged my flat iron in, and put on a bra and panties.

I stood in my bathroom, straightening my hair half naked. When I was done with my hair I threw it up into a messy bun. I went into my room and pulled on a pair of leggings with a PINK pullover sweatshirt.

I slid my feet into my Birkenstocks and went back to my bathroom to put on makeup.

When I was finally ready to go, it was 5:55 am. I grabbed my 3 suitcases, my carry on, and my two duffle bags. I laid the duffle bags across my chest and had two suitcases in each hand. I rushed down the stairs and managed not to fall.
